Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu is one of the finest hotels on Sardinia's famed Costa Smeralda. Nestled splendidly within this beautiful "Poltu Quatu" - Sardinian for "hidden port" - the all-white buildings of the resort sit on a natural fjord with crystal clear waters. The hotel also boasts a private marina where pristine yachts up to 35 meters in length are able to dock. Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu, part of the Lifestyle collection by Preferred Hotels & Resorts, is designed to resemble a typical Sardinian village with cobbled walkways, attractive arches and white Mediterranean style buildings arranged around the marina. All the rooms have a balcony or terrace, perfect for taking in the beautiful views. Breakfast is rich and varied, with the lovely Mediterranean Sea as an immaculate backdrop.

More cons than pros I'm afraid. Property is nice, location us good, they provide free luxury shuttle to nearest beach, staff nice and helpful, nice bathroom with Bulgari toiletries. On the other hand there's no Air-conditioning in the room, room is small for the money paid, construction noises at the pool, have to pay right away for items consumed (can't sign on the room). Breakfast variety of items very limited although they had a nice selection of good quality fruit. The cherry on the cake was when they made us sign a contract for iron and ironing board like we're buying a house 😄....not expected in a hotel where you pay 500 to 800 eur per night. Not recommended. Highly overpriced for the product offered.

We were surprised at how pretty the hotel is. While it is not a 5" hotel, even the old rooms are very pleasing. Spacious and very clean, as is all the hotel. The renovated rooms are beautifuly done and very functional. Two sinks, plenty of closet storage. Great Bulgari bathroom amenities. That alone is warrants a return trip. The pool is large, with comfortable beds and airy. The hotel offers access to a very good off site gym, three minutes walking. (Though not always air conditioned.) Breakfast is good, but the restaurant could be more inviting. The pool lunch is ok, but the salad portions were very small and quite expensive. You are less about 10 minutes to Porto Cervo. There was some construction ongoing, which at times was a little disruptive. Very friendly staff. We did not use the complentary beach, but certainly nice the hotel offers this.

The hotel location is amazing; in a marina and surrounded by shops, restaurants and cafes so if you’re there for a relaxing retreat you don’t need a car. We booked the pent house and it had the best view in house! Very spacious and clean it had 3 rooms (1 master bedroom with a walking closet) each with a full wc and a small balcony facing the parking/mountain area, a living room with a 1/2 wc, (separated by 3-4 steps) a dining area, a kitchen (fully equipped) and a spacious balcony viewing the marina and the hotel garden/main entrance. However, to have such view, the way to the pent house was required going up a couple set of stairs (40+ steps) so forgetting something back in the room and going back up to get it was a bit of a hassle, but we used it as an exercise for the trip instead of the gym haha! The staff were very friendly and so were the locals in the area. Language was not a barrier most of the people there talked English even though they weren’t fluent but you can always find a way with communication. We made our booking through the hotels website and found a great price on the penthouse (considering the size and location) in the long stay offers tab. Filippo at the boat rental counter helped us a lot with that and even recommended a couple of places to visit around the area. The hotel has a decent gym with most of the equipment required to workout; as of what my brother said. You can pass by the pool when walking to breakfast. It’s very nice and chill. The breakfast was fresh and DELICIOUS! I can’t say anything else. Refills were nonstop and there was a chef that took your orders for eggs. And not to forget the breakfast view was also a plus! The hotel is not directly on a beach but they have their own in a 5 minute drive maybe. They can reserve you sun beds and take you there in a shuttle (back and forth) it also had a restaurant and a drinks kiosk for freshly squeezed juices and mojitos and a wc but honestly it wasn’t that clean. If you’re thinking of roaming the island i would recommend renting a car because taxi’s and the hotel rides are pricey. Finally; our stay was more than amazing and I would really recommend the hotel to anyone thinking of going to North Sardinian!

The hotel is lovely but you need to be aware that the resort is closed for 9 months of the year, no shops, only one bar where the hotel staff eat and drink, no restaurants, it was like a ghost town, and it's impossible to leave by foot, the roads are very dangerous for walking, not lit and no pavements. So basically you need a car to get out anywhere. None of this was mentioned in the TUI description so we were sold a dud. I wouldn't stay here again, I'd rather stay in a nice town where you can walk out of your hotel to bars and restaurants. The resort was built in the 60's by a billionaire so it isn't even authentic Italy.

A real 5* resort and perfect for couples (if you're prepared to spend a lot of money). The resort is isolated, so you're very much bound to the prices around the resort. We travelled as a family of three with a 2 year old, although the hotel and resort is exceptional, I wouldn't return as a family.
