Terrible experience- the place has completely gone downhill. We arrived and had shower issues. The next day toilet problems and on Wednesday, the fan stopped working. Got tired of calling maintenance. They said if we would have called they would have given us some compensation. We told her we did - she didn’t care. Marriott used to be synonymous with quality. Not here, not anymore. Sad.

Attended a conference here. Really expected better from JW Marriott. Wildly overpriced for what it is. Very noisy with lots of families with small children (room was supposedly on a "quiet" floor but could still hear children running down the halls at 6:45am). Door to room was paper thin. The room itself wasn't bad (bathroom was nice, in fact, with good lighting and separate bath and shower, and no horrible shower curtain!) but with rates starting at $650, it was nothing special. Perhaps most disappointing was the food and wine program. Restaurants are again hugely expensive, but with entirely forgettable and unimaginative fare. The wine list at the Rockwood was equally disappointing. You shouldn't have to pay $300 to get a decent CA wine. Whoever is in charge of the wines really should get out more. Not everyone wants to drink Caymus or its many (mediocre) imitators. Service was generally efficient and friendly (except maybe the yahoos at the driving range, who really could barely be bothered, but whatever). On the other hand Ariel at Rockwood Grill was a standout; super friendly and accommodating. But in the end, can't really recommend the JW. Either find a cheaper (and likely better) place or spend the extra to get the real deal. This ain't it, IMHO.

This for the Spa not the Hotel and the Spa was fantastic amazing and relaxing what a place spent the day here and can’t wait to come back. The staff was fantastic and attentive. Everything about this spa was top notch We had lunch in the bistro and I didn’t expect much but wow it was one of the better meals I have had in the desert

My husband and I were on a rewards trip for his company. Upon arrival the outside grounds are beautiful and clean. At check-in we were greeted and checked in quickly. We were initially placed in on the 4th floor facing the parking lot in a handicapped room. My husband and I are easy going, but decided that since this was a rewards trip this room wasn't sufficient. We went to the front desk and asked to be moved. The front desk associate was helpful in moving us. We were moved to the 7th floor in a handicap room again. Neither of us require an accessible room. We decided to deal with it. Room 7144 needs attention by Engineering. The fire alarm is falling off the wall, the front lock on the door is falling off, the refrigerator doesn't get cold, the 7th-floor ice machine has no ice, there are cracks in the shower ceiling and stains on the tile. The balcony has no plants in the planters outside, it’s full of water and rocks. We arrived at the Restaurant for breakfast at 6:29 on Monday 2/17. There were two associates at the hostess stand that ignored us, they never once looked up at the three individuals waiting to be acknowledged. I spoke up and was told the aren't open until 6:30… it was 6:29. Perhaps some additional training for the male and female host would be in order. The female host was Bernice, I didn’t catch the name of the male host. The servers for breakfast were polite and professional. I was told there was no hotel shuttle. I've never stayed at a hotel with no shuttle. Usually hotel shuttle will take you within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. Lobby bar bartenders are not very hospitable. Just there to take orders. I realize Marriott is a Pepsi product hotel however, if you walk the banquet space there are Diet Cokes available. I'd suggest having coke products perhaps in the lobby shop. My husband and I rented a car at Hertz. The Hertz employee’s (I realize is not employed by Marriott) demeanor was not hospitable. We got a car to visit Palm Desert and decided to stop at a McDonald’s on the way. To be completely honest the McDonald’s in Palm Desert provided us with outstanding service which we didn’t expect. The service provided was better than majority of the service by the JW Marriott hotel staff. Staff overall demeanor was subpar. Lobby women restrooms also needs attention by engineering. At checkout the front desk associate did not inquire about our stay. He said, you’re all set, nothing more (like thank you for choosing Marriott for your stay)

We had a great experience at the JW Marriott's Desert Villas! Our room was very clean and nicely appointed. Loved having the kitchenette and deck to drink coffee on each morning. We will definitely go back! Would have liked to have known that we could use the facilities at the Resort on the weekdays, but glad to know now!
