Celebrating its inaugural opening in 1936, Palm Springs' Colony Palms Hotel (originally the Colonial House) was a haven for old Hollywood and the international jet set. After careful restoration and renovation, the hotel reopened in 2007 with the bravado of a Prohibition-era speakeasy and the charm of a four-star luxury boutique hotel. With names like Purple Palm Restaurant and "Palme D'Or Residence" paying homage to the hotel's historic past and VIP visitors, the old becomes new again at Colony Palms Hotel. The hotel's 56 guestrooms and suites feature stunning mountain views, oversized bedding with custom designed Turkish Suzani headboards, and Italian linens. Plush white towels and Signature CPH bathrobes offset the cool marble countertops and oversized vanities in the bathrooms, while bath products by C.O. Bigelow create an en-suite spa atmosphere in every room. Your posh accommodations become your personal theater and entertainment center with iPod docking station, high-definition televisions and complimentary wireless Internet. At Colony Palms Hotel you are invited to pursue every pleasure with Indulgences—additional details to make your stay unique and unforgettable, including chocolate-covered strawberries, flowers, and champagne service for two upon arrival.

This is a 5 - adorable stylish boutique property. Every detail is well attended to and makes this a memorable stay. We like how private it feels - like a nice private club. We were welcomed with a choice of water or Champaign, showed to our room where they had created a brass plaque with our names on it to keep. The bed room is very stylish in classic Palm Springs style, the beds have Frette sheets, they give you an eye mask and bed spray with a fresh water for the evening. In the evening they had a beautiful fire pit area, pool, bar, restaurant, and bikes make this property very special.

The good is excellent location, and great pool, hot tub and lounge seating. Being off Palm Canyon Dr. made it quiet. Adult only. The bad is many. We had a good, but pricey dinner. Breakfast was terrible. cold coffee, overcooked eggs, undercooked bacon. Impossible to get poolside service for beverages. We were there eight nights. The suite was extremely expensive. Shabby decor, lighting so subtle it was non-existent, the mattress too soft. There was only a tiny closet and not many drawers to unpack, so we worked out of suitcases. The bath and the balcony were very good. Colony Palms advertises concierge service but does not offer that. Desk clerks are young and not that helpful, despite generous tips, to organize activities or reservations. We flew in and had no car. No courtesy car as you would expect at these prices. On check-in you are greeted with a two-page list of rules you must sign. One dealt with heinous penalties if you cancel. This is before you even see your expensive suite. When I returned home, I found they had charged my American Express with the total eight-day stay one day before I even arrived. Is that even legal? I wanted to move to another hotel but was afraid of the fight over cancellation penalties. Two days before we left, we were offered an upgrade. Who wants to pack again and move. Too little, too late. And, finally, they gave us a gift. New terry robes, cheap shower shoes and a candle. No room in our bags for these. They offered to ship them and then had the nerve to charge the postage to our American Express. I thought I was getting a luxurious suite, like at Four Seasons. Easily overcharged by four times.

The rooms, amenities and staff were lovely. Comfortable beds & pillows, Food was good. I give only 4 stars because they were well aware we had a large group staying for a birthday celebration of 33 pp, the dining room was not staffed well & you waited forever to get a drink by the pool or breakfast ordered in a reasonable amount of time. That’s not acceptable when you’re paying their rates to stay.

Good, although it was starting to feel a bit enclosed after a few days. Nice staff, nice food. The only thing we didn't like - and this is a larger American issue to be honest - is the number of things that were charged as extras e.g. a 'resort fee' (for using the pool), a fee to use the wi-fi (seriously?) and yet another fee to park your car.

Had brunch here. The food and cocktails were excellent as was the setting. Would stay here next time we are in Palm Springs. We came here with friends on Sunday . Really great and would highly recommend. The best Bloody Mary that I have ever had

A friend and I just returned from our stay at the Colony Palms Hotel for a 4-day package in a Casita. We had an amazing time! All of the wonderful staff made us feel as if we were staying at someone's private home. The pool area has a hip vibe and amazing food. The location is great, close to Palm Canyon Drive and the Movie Colony area is directly adjacent to the hotel. We had an amazing time and will definitely return.
