At only 20 minutes from touch-down to sand, El Mangroove is a contemporary boutique hotel with a unique personality. It contains 85 bohemian-chic suites surrounded by forest, beach and mangrove that are only steps away from the ocean. Large rooms, with seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, create a comfortable and relaxing haven. The suites are situated within 3 two-story buildings, which are set in front of glass-like water mirrors and nestled amongst the mangrove. The two on-site restaurants Matiss and Makoko offer a combination of laid-back modern cuisine and sensorial gastronomy. Service is personalized and attentive; guests call it outstanding. The resort captures the simplistic yet exotic character of Costa Rica, with natural wood furnishings, regional artwork and contemporary stone finishes. The beautiful spa, fitness center and long, cabana-flanked swimming pool make up the perfect mix of indulgence and barefoot luxury.

We had an unforgettable time at El Mangroove! The gardens, pool, and beach areas are beautifully designed, impeccably maintained, and simply breathtaking. However, what truly stood out during our stay was the exceptional service provided by every staff member – they were kind, welcoming, and efficient. A highlight of our trip was the excursion we took with Ronald from Nomad Tours. He guided us to a stunningly beautiful waterfall, a fascinating animal rescue center, and a fantastic local restaurant. During the entire tour, including while driving us between destinations, Ronald shared his extensive knowledge of local history, flora, and fauna. His English is excellent, and he even helped us practice our Spanish in a kind and patient way.

Beautiful hotel, quiet location but only a short drive to El Coco if you want some nightlife. Staff were fantastic, extremely accommodating. We were there for 8 nights so the food at the restaurants became a little repetitive but all in all it was a very enjoyable trip

First, I would like to say the Hotel Mangroove itself was exceptional. It’s perfectly combines luxury and nature, the rooms were modern and spacious, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome in our stay, I loved relaxing by the pool, and the food at their restaurant was nothing short of exquisite. It’s truly a serene retreat for anyone visiting Guanacaste. Also I would like to mention about our tour, we did the Palo Verde Tour with Issys Tours, we were picked up from the hotel, the professionalism and warmth of the guide stood out. The vehicle was comfortable, clean, and well air-conditioned—a blessing in Costa Rica’s warm weather. The tour was exceptional and we enjoyed a lot watching the monkeys, crocodiles and birds.

The food was good. I made my reservation with no issue and the price was great but we had to leave due to my daughter got ill after the 3rd day and her issue gotten worse therefore we had to leave back to the states, due to her unexpected illness. I notified the staff.....but prior the first night the clean up crew took our $75 undergarment, (bra) and we notified them, second incident my daughter had just bought her favorite body cream from trader joes and the clean up took half of it. We thought well maybe she/he wanted to smell better... no issue we did not report. When you attend in costa rica learn the language is a must. Another main issue upon my exiting the hotel the young lady assisted at 8am and she was really nice and I paid the full amount with no issue...we checked out on November 7, 2024 they charged my account $350 for an early exit the next day, which I was not informed during the reservation, entrance of checking in or exiting and paid the full amount. This was the worse experience to have from Marriott and staff to take advantage of the customers. No one wants to pick up the phone when they see an American call, the manager Antonio Cubillo claim he sent me an email which I NEVER received therefore I had to call the Marriott back to inform them, I sent an email and it came back...yes it was rejected.
