Hotel Balzac Paris is in the heart of the City of Light. Parisian-chic design, a vibrant color palette and soft lighting drape this property—part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts—in warm elegance, setting the tone for an exceptional experience. Built for the director of the Paris Opera in 1853, this deluxe townhouse-style boutique hums with the French art de vivre, serving as a plush sanctuary for rest and relaxation and a central headquarters for your Parisian holiday. Honoré de Balzac, the prolific and influential writer for whom the hotel is named, once made his home on the site, and collections of antique books and lithographs depicting the author and scenes from his work adorn the property. 13 suites and 57 rooms marry opulent details like oak-floored entrances and marble bathrooms to state-of-the-art technology, including LCD televisions, cable and internet access. Romantic skyline views of the exquisite Eiffel Tower from the third floor up are available by special request.

If you don't book a suite, I don't recommend this hotel. The hotel's breakfast staff is insufficient, management needs to sort this out.

Room - We had a Suite. We understand the design team is famous for the luxury properties it has designed, but style must be accompanied by practicality (boring yes but needed just the same). The room was pretty, but not all that comfortable: the sofa was hard to sit in and the room layout seemed more suited for a magazine layout than for day-to-day use. Dining - Breakfast had some challenges, starting with insufficient staff. In addition, serving breakfast in space specifically designed as a bar lounge can be challenging (low seating and small tables intended for drinks, not meals). It is a beautiful space, but is just not as flexible as the designers may have intended it to be. Service - Friendly and polite, just not sure they have the consistent, luxury level of service they claim. Jasmine and the other Front Desk staff were lovely and helpful. Location - We at first we were concerned about its proximity to the Ave Des Champs-Elysees, but it was far enough removed to not be a problem. Overall - This is a hard thing to pinpoint because it was good, but not excellent. It felt more like a 4 star than 5 star property.

Occupying a prominent corner up the hill from the Champs Élysée, the hotel embodies the « less is more » design aesthetic. This is a good choice for travelers who know Paris well and want to relax in peace and quiet. Highly polished floors and elegant paneling frame comfortable sofas upholstered in white slipcovers. There is a lounge and bar area with a lovely attentive staff. Our room was spacious and comfortable with thoughtful amenities throughout. The marble bath included heated towel bars and a large shower stall. The famous Pierre Gagnaire is on-site but the are several other options close by.

Everything was perfect - excellent experience, from the smell of the rooms, the sheets, the cleanliness, the cozy atmosphere at the lobby, the warm welcome of all the staff especially Jihad. Thank you for a memorable stay. We definitely recommend to our friends & family.
