Reviews for Le Royal Monceau

An unpleasant experience at Le Royal Monceau

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

I had a very bad experience at Le Royal Monceau Raffles Paris, in what is probably my farewell to Raffles hotels, after having been a client at their properties in Dubai, Singapore, Seychelles and London. My wife and I arrived after a 7 hour flight to the hotel for a 2-night stay only to find out that our room, 15 minutes before 3pm, was not ready. We had a drink at the bar waiting for the room (which we paid for ourselves, no one apologized or invited us for the delay), and went back to the reception desk around 15.20. The room was not ready yet. They offered us to wait longer, but finally -after my insistance- found a room of the same category (Artist room). Our room was located in the first floor, close to a very busy, noisy gaming room celebrating a kids' party. When we entered the room we were disappointed by the (in our opinion) poor design, but in a second look we saw different stains in the carpet, curtains, damaged sofa, some scratched pieces of furniture... that revealed an overall defective and very tired room. We decided to leave, due to the corcumstances and not being offered another room (only a suite with an aditional cost of 1,800 euros per night) and asked for a waiver of their cancellation policy, since they had provided us with a deficient room at a noisy place and after the check-in time! The cold, uninterested answer from their front reception manager after unfeltly apologizing was very clear: they don't make any refunds since that is their policy, and charged us with a fee amounting to 1,071 euros. After the unfortunate incident I tried to obtain a form to file a complaint as a consumer whose rights had been violated, but so far I didn't hear from them (I was told they would send it by email, which so far-the day after my request took place- they have not done). In a caricature-like, almost grotesque last show of their lack of proffessionality, we had to wait over 15 minutes for our bags to be returned and finally leave the place- apparently they had been misplaced somewhere, since we were asked about their size and colour... All in all, and regrettably, the Royal Monceau is currently far below the category they try to position themselves in, which they clearly showed with their lack of interest for their guests' opinions or needs, their pettiness and their negligent management of the situation, not only with their inability to produce a high-quality room.

My New Favorite Hotel in Paris

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I came as a stop over because I had work in. Budapest and I had come so far, so why not visit Paris at Christmas? I booked this hotel at the recommendation of AMEX, where the agent told me anyone he had sent here loved it. Sure enough, I loved it! This hotel is simply perfection. Location is outstanding. You are near everything. You can walk everywhere and also the metro is a few short blocks away (I came via subway because I like public transport and it is so easy for those who care). The staff are lovely. They are gracious and kind and welcoming. I was traveling alone and they made me feel safe and cared for. When I say staff, I literally mean everyone. The doormen, the valets, the front desk, the restaurant staff, room service, the cleaning staff. They are all in on making sure this hotel and its guests are treated right. Details: Beds: so comfy! Proper king sized and best sleep (aside from tonight but I am leaving and can never sleep the night before I depart) Showers: high pressure! Lovely. Walk in shower. Clarins products that smell delicious Tub: I had a massive tub in my room. It was heavenly and I rarely take a bath. This invited me in. Cleanliness: the whole place is kept so clean Gym: outstanding. Well equipped with 3 reformers as well. I was there everyday. There is a trainer there everyday too! Restaurant: I ate breakfast in what is the Japanese restaurant. Breakfast is outstanding. Don’t miss. There is too much food but really great. Bar: The Long Bar is welcoming and filled with a nice, welcoming vibe that isn’t always everywhere (don’t get me started on the Four Seasons Bar in Paris that is essentially the opposite!). I hung out here doing some work and having a glass of wine. It was lovely. Room service: great food, quick service. Pool: it looked lovely but I forgot a bathing suit. Spa: didn’t use but I saw it when I went to the gym. Certainly nice to have there if you want it! Ambiance: simply stunning. The rooms are stunning and the entry is classy and so pretty at Christmas. Overall they don’t leave anything to chance! I loved that the staff allowed me to struggle with my French. I asked them to allow me to speak and they did. Part of why I come to France is to use my French. I struggle a lot but they are so kind and patient. There is not one person here who didn’t encourage my French, which I really appreciate. It is the opposite of what often happens at many hotels. I know it is easier to switch to English rather than put up with me but it was so appreciated. This is definitely my new home in Paris! I told my husband we have to come back in summer! I cannot wait! À bientôt!

Couple weekend retreat at RM, absolutely wonderful.. everything about this property is top. From the little details at the spacious room to the best bathroom we’ve seen at a hotel (water pressure, temp and shower fittings) is world class. This is one of the 3 best hotels in the world we have visited. The service is world class and the restaurants (3) at the hotel made us want to just stay here.. IN PARIS. I wanted to write because this was a very pleasant surprise and to congratulate the management because this hotel is truly among the best of best in terms of style, substance and quality.

My new favorite hotel in Paris - EXCELLENT place to stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This is my new favorite hotel in Paris. A truly beautiful place with wonderful, remarkably friendly and helpful staff. I booked with AMEX Platinum and the free breakfast buffet (normally 70 Euros) was out of this world. Also not to be missed is the caesar salad with caviar in the dressing served in the bar. My room was comfortable and quiet. An A+ experience. I will definitely be back.

When in Paris, Stay at Raffles

A truly luxury hotel two steps away from Arc de Triomphe. Historical building, completely modernized on the inside, large modern rooms, exquisite internal design throughout. Impeccable service. The Japanese restaurant deserves a special mention. A truly five-star experience overall
