Stein Service is Superb!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 11 hours ago

The ski valets at the Stein are second to none. The continuity of staff from year to year both at the ski valets and Champions adds to the pleasure of staying at the Stein. It is comforting to see the same faces each time we return. The apparent happiness of the staff is infectious.

Ask for Vicky!

I had the most amazing blow dry at the hair salon at the spa at Steins! I live in LA and was hesitant but needed my hair washed and blown dry. Vicky was fabulous I wrote in my notes I preferred boar bristle brushes, and she had them on hand. If you’re going to DV she is your girl!!!!

Top notch

Excellent service, top notch place. Classy and cozy at the same time. Service was outstanding and facilities were very clean. Some places you don’t get what you pay for. Here, you do get what you pay for. All staff were trained very well to attend to guests, better than four seasons or Ritz Carlton.

Maybe the best Ski in and out hotel in the US.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This is a perfect example of how an “older” building maintains perfect grace and elegance. Old workd charm meets US modern day luxury expectations. Great ski in and ski out location. Amazing rooms. Professional and gracious staff. Wonderful spa. Dinning is even great for Utah. Wine list is fine and I realize Utah is not an easy state for wine. Always looking forward to return visits.

The WORST experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I have been going to Stein Eriksen Lodge for over 3 decade. We have a ski home in Park City. I will never return to this restaurant again. I had family and friends fly in from the east coast and was excited to celebrate Christmas Eve at Stein's. Several weeks in advance, I had secured a reservation for the Prix Fixe Dinner in one of their outdoor Globes. We all arrived on time and when we checked in we were immediately met with a hostess using an inhospitable tone ...telling us to buy some cocktails and find a place in the lobby to sit down and wait. We were fine with that. Of course a 15 minute wait is fair. However...45 minutes later...our seating was still unavailable. Only one out of 5 of us is a drinker so needless-to-say...we were not distracted by the instructions to buy drinks and hang out and wait. Finally...totally frustrated, I agreed to be seated inside...(not the plan...would never have chosen Stein Erikson interior restaurant for a special experience). The FIXED menu was quickly served to us...And, all 5 people at the table tried to be kind and appreciative ...but I could see they were pushing their food around on the plate...4 of us ordered the Wagu entree and 1 person ordered the goose. The 4 people who ordered the wagu finally declared that it was tooo tough and tasteless and truly inedible. From a Medium Rare order to the Medium orders ...the meat was fibrous and frankly speaking a choking hazard. I told everybody to put their forks down and lets just eat dessert and go home. The bill came and it was nearly $1500 for 5 people (only 2 glasses of red wine were included in this). We even had to remind the waitress that the Globe fee of about $250 was still included in the tab. I had to strong-arm management to get one of the five Prix Fixed meals comped. Honestly, they should have approached us with such an offer ...there was NO APOLOGY at all. Awful public relations and terrible managerial service. The whole experience was so sloppy; unprofessional; and disappointing. It was Christmas Eve and everybody left the lodge with literally a terrible taste in our mouths. It is a place that is so "overly hyped up" Buyer Beware. It was the worst dining experience of my life. I'm serious.
