Rich shades of crimson and vaulted bamboo thatched roofs define Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas, bringing a sense of earthy exoticism to the natural surroundings. Koh Phangan is known for its hedonistic full moon parties – and those are an hour away, if you’d like to partake – but here on the island’s opposite shores, intimate luxury and attentive staff make for a beach getaway that is far removed from everyday life.

This hotel is like nowhere we have stayed before…. It is a truly unique design with a barefoot concept on a beautiful beach with wonderful, friendly and efficient staff. A luxury retreat in a jungle setting. We loved the fact that our beach sunbeds were reserved for us for our whole stay and the beach service was really good (thanks in particular to Bass). The Spa should not be missed - yes, it is pricey but the individual hillside huts are an experience and the massage I had was actually the best one of my entire Thailand trip. Food in the resort was exceptional, although much cheaper options could be found in the lovely little village directly next to the hotel. We also had some really good lunches at the beach bar “Sand in your shoes”. Breakfast choices were superb and a mixture of a la carte and buffet. We are not fans of Japanese food so didn’t try the hotel’s signature restaurant. We had a few days of rain during our stay and do think that the hotel could benefit from an indoor area that could be used for dining in poor weather.

We stayed for five nights and had a lovely first floor room overlooking the beach. Sleeping to the sound of the waves was very calming. Unfortunately during our stay we had more or less constant rain / thunderstorms so didn't see the hotel at its best but still had a nice time. The staff are wonderful and tried very hard to help everyone make the most of things despite the weather. The main restaurant was great and breakfast was amazing with loads of choices . We also had a cooking lesson with one of the chefs , enjoyed everything we cooked and left with aprons, chopping boards and recipe cards. Highlights of our trip were the visits to the spa which is so beautiful with steps up to private rooms set up the mountain side. We had one memorable and wonderful couples massage high up the hillside whilst a tropical storm roared outside the room! After a consultation with Dr Shetty who is with the resort from February to April my wife enrolled in a three day wellness program. This has been a real eye opening experience and feel all she learned will help us both make real changes to our lifestyle, improving our health for now and the future.

This was the 3rd stop of 5 on a 3 week trip to Thailand. This Hotel is in the northern quiet part of Koh Phangan. Nowhere near the Full Moon party! The room was Beachfront done in classically Thai style, maybe a little old fashioned but we liked it. Nice plunge pool to refresh in. A few hiccups on check in but the Hotel sorted them out quickly. You get reserved sunbeds on the public beach. Lots of places to walk to on the beach. Great location to go Scuba Diving in Koh Tao or Sail rock. A big plus is that there is a great little village behind the Hotel with restaurants etc. Quiet and not too intense like many other places near Thailand Hotels. Service good apart from 1 breakfast when it was super busy. We got attended to very well the next day so management was responsive. Overall enjoyed the location and the resort. Would go back. 4.5 stars but we rounded that up due to the responsiveness of management to any issues.

Heaven on earth. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and it was absolute paradise. The hotel and setting were amazing and the staff were so friendly and attentive. We are already planning our next visit. We missy it already. Love the place.

The most beautiful hotel and island, we booked for three nights and stayed for five nights. Everything was perfect, we were so well looked after by all the staff, thankyou Mr David and the lovely Mui. Can’t recommend this hotel enough, rooms were large and very stylish, everything so clean, food fantastic especially evening meals, we travel to Thailand 3 times every year, we will definitely be back.
