Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra

Just average - All restaurants closed at 5PM as no where to dine except bar. Room service doesn't answer phone while night prior room service food was terrible and served cold - pizza and pasta... Zero food in room which is standard for even Holiday Inn. This hotel is way over rated. I'm being nice by giving 3 stars.

I am a platinum All-Accor member and it was my 2nd time staying at Sofitel Phnom Penh. This means that I have stayed in hotels for a significant amount of time so I am familiar with rules. However, I was accused of smoking in a non-smoking room. I was upgraded from a deluxe room with balcony to a junior suite with a very narrow terrace that you have to go through a sliding window/door to access it. When I arrived in the room, I immediately wanted to open the windows because it was locked so I requested them to open it for me. I also even asked for matchsticks. I was always stepping out to the terrace to smoke with the window/door shut so the smoke won't come inside. Also, instead of flicking the cigarette butts out of the terrace, I would put it off and throw in the rubbish bin inside my room. The next day, I received a letter from the reception slapping me with a USD200 penalty because I was reported to be smoking in the room. I called the reception and they told me that because they saw cigarette butts in the bin and there were packs of cigarettes on the TV console, for obvious reason. I explained to them and asked them if I am allowed to smoke at the terrace and they said yes. There was no apology at that time. I went to the reception the next day to express my disappointment and sought for an apology. Only then they apologized but also added that they smelled smoke in my room, which I then brushed off. Other than that, the staff at Club Milliseme and Do Forni are fantastic, friendly and just simply nice! Before they accused me of smoking inside the room, they should have checked if the window/door to the terrace was unlocked, which I knew they didn't do. I spilled beer on the terrace floor on my first night and I used the bathroom floor mat to wipe it off and left the mat there. It stayed there until I checked out.

Excellent accommodations and centrally located. The entire staff are wonderful and very warm. Breakfast is outstanding with a wide variety of top food options. Seanglteng was professional and pleasant at breakfast, making our experience even better!

Enjoyed an amazing 2night stay. Check in Smooth and efficient Location Well positioned and next to a Mall which is very handy, as it has a great food hall. Room Great size, huge bed and super comfy pillows. The best room tidy I have ever experienced... Super clean and everything tidied away. Breakfast Great selection to suit all tastes. Gluten free and vegetarian options. Highly recommend the omelette. Service was excellent with a special mention to Kunthea and Pisey, who made it an extra special experience. Service The staff are a credit to the hotel. The service is impeccable and you are made to feel very welcome. Bar Great service and food. An amazing place - the staff are the best, loved the breakfast both in the western and Chinese restaurants. Pool crisp and clean, rooms big and comfortable. Staff welcoming and willing to do anything you need. Stay here and enjoy. And enjoy the nightly music, it’s majestic.
