Anantara Layan Phuket Resort

Me and my wife had a great time at Anantara Layan Phuket Resort. Special thanks to personal trainer Billy whose multiple super stretching sessions helped me become more flexible than before. Hopefully we will return to this amazing place again.😊 Sincerely, Zubaydullo

A beautiful hotel set away from the hustle and bustle of Phuket. The rooms are lovely and the beach area, with pool and restaurants, is top notch. Do note you are not near to Phuket Town - with traffic, this is about a 1 hour+ taxi ride away so do consider this. The beach and pool area are immaculate and overall the service at this property is simply amazing. Nothing is too much to ask. I became unwell during my stay and staff checked up on me, left flowers in the room and get well cards, etc - truly amazing hospitality. The breakfast each morning is fabulous with a great selection ranging from fresh fruits, to Thai food, noodle soup bar, pastries, etc. I must mention Kamille who is one of the kindest and most lovely people we have met during our stay in Thailand. She welcomed me and my wife Dianna every morning with great warmth and looked after me with special healing teas when I was unwell. She’s a truly fantastic professional who helped make our stay excellent. Special mentions also must go to Naddee, Nooke and Prince - all at the beach - they are simply brilliant and helped Dianna and I thoroughly enjoy ourselves with excellent poolside and beachside service. They are an asset to Anantara. Overall it’s really the staff which make this hotel so wonderful - nothing is too much trouble with the instant messaging via the App a very useful way of booking excursions, making reservations, etc. Sunday is a wild brunch beach party so if you’re after a quiet isolated place, with the arrival of Zuma here this is not the place for you necessarily as it has become a bit more of a “scene”. We loved it and the staff and beauty of the resort make us want to come back every year. Thank you everyone, especially Kamille, Naddee, Nooke and Prince - see you soon when we return!

We had an amazing Christmas at Anantara. The hotel was very luxurious and modern and the staff were very kind. Our spacious villa had the main structure, which contains our fancy bedroom and bathroom and a separate hut which is our living room. We were welcomed with a very generous spread of local snacks and fresh local fruits when we first arrived at our room. I also liked that they made Father Christmas come on a speedboat while getting chased by the hotel’s own parrot to give you presents! My favourite part of our stay was that the hotel had a show where people were juggling and throwing fire! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will surely come back soon!

I came to Anantara Layan with my friend for three nights to eat, massage, play some golf in Phuket and just chill out a bit. Even though I had stayed at various villa hotels in Phuket and Asia, I was very very happy with the overall experience at Anantara. Service was very good and staff speak good English; service speed was probably the best I have experienced with villa hotels (eg buggy arrivals, room service, housekeeping, etc). A few notable points: 1. The Dara (Thai) restaurant was exceptionally good. Whether you are new to Thai food, or you are a Michelin star foodie, you would be impressed. The meal we had was one of the top 5 Thai meals I have ever had in my life! The main Chef (forgot his name) and the staff (a guy called Bank and a very nice girl with a name something like Praraz?) were really helpful and attentive! 2. The Spa - we were so very happy with the 2 message therapists - their names View (she was exceptionally skillful with deep tissue massage and sorted out a lot of my painful “knots”!) and Noi (she was very good with my friend’ balanced relax type massage) that we kept going back for more!!! 3. Zuma was also good - but like other Zuma’s around the world the dining experience comes with a modernish setting with clubby music played tho throughout my whole meal. I mean it was “okay”…., not super unbearable for us, but ideally they could give our ears a bit of rest every now and then perhaps with quieter stuff… 😛 4. Breakfast offers a wide high quality selection of Western and Asian dishes. The cheese room was impressive. Kamille the manager there was very helpful. 5. Concierge was also very helpful and recommended a very good Thai restaurant outside of the hotel for us to try! Overall, the stay was close to perfect. A couple of things would make it that much more perfect for us: 1. The music volume: I highly recommend management consider managing the music level in the beach house area (where the main pool and Zuma are). If you prefer a bit more peace and quiet, ask for a room or villa not so close to where the beach house (which is where Zuma and the main action takes place) just in case. 2. Catering further for strict vegetarians: my friend is a strict Buddhist vegetarian. The hotel does cater for vegetarians up to a point but it would be helpful if the hotel makes clearer notes on which types of dishes really contain for example no elements of meat/fish, and which dishes can be modified to be strict vegetarian dishes. I will definitely come back to Anantara Layan to stay. Very good experience!
