Reviews for Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

Wonderful vacation in Mayakoba

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This is a wonderful place for a vacation. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms clean. The food is good and the service is excellent. The Casa Amate restaurant is a must visit. The food is amazing as well as the ambiance of a great steak house. The little coffee shop in the lobby is a must visit. Betsy is there each morning at 7am for coffee, great pastries and even an assortment of candies for your sweet tooth. We loved going there each morning and seeing her beautiful smile. The beach is beautiful. This is a quiet resort and very peaceful for a restful vacation.

Loved it- sad they are closing!

We are pretty picky and had a great time. Service was exceptional. Facilities were clean and comfortable. Our only real complaint was the food, which we found to be very mediocre, especially for the price. Luckily, you can go to Rosewood, etc for meals, which we did, and the breakfast buffet has some decent items (eg quesadillas made to order.)

Absolutely beautiful resort with great food and service. Can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend going to Casa Amate, best food we had at the resort! Drinks were well made and everything was super friendly! It was a very quiet and relaxing experience!

Andaz Mayakoba is a special spot!

Andaz Mayakoba is a beautiful and special place combining jungle and ocean. What makes Andaz exceptional is the staff. Shout out to Julia, our housekeeper who took excellent care of us when my son fell ill. She helped us comfortable and brought my son electrolyte drinks. We felt so cared for and safe at Andaz. Erik and all the servers at breakfast worked really hard. Another Andaz perk is the wellness programing. We enjoyed the ma'alob k'iin and the guided meditation/sound bath. He is the real deal! Rolando in sales is very professional and offered us the best hospitality. Everyone at the front desk was so kind and service was quick. The concierge was a delight. And shout out to the cooks making the eggs and quesadillas in the morning. They were awesome! Now, if you're a beach person, you really want to select an ocean front/beach view room. All the Mayakoba resorts are split into lagoon side and beach side, both sides offering benefits. They have golf carts and bikes to get you around. We appreciated the privacy of the lagoon side (nobody in sight!), but I love waking up and seeing the ocean. I heard they are about to undergo a renovation. I read they plan to upgrade the rooms, spa and dining options. I hope they add a full market where you can buy medicine, hats, sunscreen, clothing, gifts and more. We had to run to the pueblito to grab items when we needed them which isn't very convenient but the pueblito is very nice. Be sure to take the boat tour and explore all of Mayakoba. We enjoyed dining at all of the resorts to see them. It sounds like Andaz will be closed temporarily very soon, but be sure to visit late 2025 or early 2026!

Wanted to love, did not enjoy

Hyatt Globalist. Wanted to love this resort, but it was not a good stay. The Mayakoba is highly rated and we (2) were excited to visit. Came from the Hilton Conrad Tulum before this stay. The staff was the most disappointing part of the stay. The property is huge and you basically need golf card rides all over the property. Calling the front desk to be picked up or asking questions was not great. Half the time the service staff seemed annoyed. I always try and be as nice and pleasant to workers as possible as I've worked those jobs before too. At check in was assigned the wrong room and a replacement room took around 3 hours to get ready. We only stayed 1 night and that basically ruined our day there because we didn't have a room to call our own. Was also told to leave my backpack at the front desk during check in and that it would be brought to the room. Had to call twice to get the backpack delivered to the room. One of the tv's did not work. Food at breakfasts wasn't that great to be honest. Had lunch in the mexican restaurant by the pool/ocean and it wasn't that good either, but it was on the pricey end of things. Pool by the ocean was not amazing either. A bit small and looked like a pool that you'd get at a much less expensive hotel. The seating on the beach was odd, sort of packed in too closely like sardines. There is some seaweed on the beach, but also crushed shells and small rocks to make the sand not smooth or comfortable to walk on with bare feet. On the positive the hotel property is adjacent to others and the beach is long and walkable for what seems like miles (probably less though). Mayakoba golf course is on property and easy to view or play. Lots of raccoons onsite....lots. Seemed harmless, including for kids. I talked with my buddy who came with on the trip and the Hilton Conrad surpassed the Hyatt Mayakoba in every regard....every single aspect, which I was shocked to acknowledge and now type. This is my first disappointing Hyatt stay. I have heard Mayakoba is going to be doing renovations in Feb'25. They have a lot to improve on. I would not stay here again and can't recommend unfortunately, and considering the prices and/or points charged per night, it's a big NO.
