About the Hotel

In the Mexican Caribbean exists a luxe sanctuary called Banyan Tree Mayakoba. This other worldly paradise harmoniously blends superb luxury with its lush natural surroundings, all on the Riviera Maya coast. The Mayakoba development area provides a sense of seclusion and quiet respite along with what is normally considered on of the world's most popular stretches of shore. This, combined with the tradition and reputation of Banyan Tree and its Eastern-inspired elegance, makes for an unparalleled retreat. Accommodations are set in private pool villas, each remarkably decorated with handcrafted Mayan furnishings, and outfitted with ultra modern amenities, giving you the best of both worlds. The freestanding villas are ultra spacious in layout, and boast individual landscaped gardens, private outdoor terraces, floor-to-ceiling windows, outdoor bathtubs, and sparkling private infinity pools. Stay well-connected with iPod docks, flat-panel televisions, wireless Internet access, and direct dial phones - although you may just find yourself enjoying the unadulterated bliss.

Reviews for Banyan Tree Mayakoba

Needs some TLC but I still love it!

In the heart of Riviera Maya there’s this absolute gem! This property is set within the Mayakoba complex, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and high-end accommodations. The resort is surrounded by lush mangroves, tranquil lagoons, and pristine beaches. It has the most exceptional service that can only come close to one other property I’ve stayed at in Mexico. That’s a huge compliment. The property itself has undergone some changes recently and it’s only getting better every time I visit. The rooms can be a bit dated depending on the area in the resort you stay but the quality of the food, service and amenities make up for that. I’d love to come back and see the rooms are updated, new mattresses and better bathroom lighting. Still it’s an amazing experience!

Total disrepair of the Bliss Villas

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We just arrived yesterday at Banyan Tree Mayakoba with high expectations. The lobby looked fantastic so we were pretty exited to see the Villa. Huge disappointment and huge difference between the amenities of the hotel and the actual villa we checked in. The room is filthy, the carpet in the bedroom is dirty, the walls and the furniture is full of dirt and staines and is in complete disrepair it looks a century old and not even maintained or cleaned. Even the slippers we received are full of chewing gum. The pool has been not cleaned in a long time it has even some toys left by the previous guest, and the water in the jacuzzi smells like sewers. The sun-beds by the pool and also the beds on the top terrace are dirty and have mold staines all over them. Nothing in this room looks five stars or even close. The person attending to us did not gave us any information about the beach, the restaurants or even the breakfast, total lack of interest on their part. The Beach is very far aways it takes 15-20 minutes by bike, and you can not swim in the ocean as it has a “wall” of stones, it doesn’t even look good. But this would not be such a problem if the rooms were better. Because of how the villa looks smells and feels our whole experience is ruined. On the good side the food is pretty good and the restaurants look very nice also the lobby and the whole resort.

Great family trip!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We had an outstanding visit over the Christmas holiday for a family of 6…,,the service from the staff (Sonia and Abi Paolo were outstanding!) throughout the resort was great. Weather was perfect, plenty to do, and the location and size of the 3BR villa by the beach was perfect

My wife and our 9 years old daughter check in Dec 24 for a short 4 night stay. Our experience was so bad that I felt the need to write a review. In short, if you had the chance to experience any other resort such as Waldorf cabo, one and only, Nizuc cancun, Aman resort or any other hotel similar, whatever you enjoy in those resort you will not find it at banyan tree. Food: 0/5, food is mediocre except the breakfast buffet but pretty hard to screw up a breakfast buffet so I dont even count it. Every other restaurant, food wasnt to our expectation. Service: 0/5, I never heard that many, " im sorry for the delay or I'm sorry for the inconvevience" in those 4 days than in our past 10 years travelling as a family. Fyi, there is no butler service at this resort. Design/ logistic: 2/5 Other than the newer villa that we stay at by the beach, the resort show its age and very run down. They are due for a serious renovation project. The golf car logistic is a disaster, we constanly wait on cart and when you finaly get one, you end up doing several stop to drop off other guess prior to your destination. We will not return even if they pay us to return, its not worth our time.

ANOTHER WONDERFUL VISIT

This was my 2nd trip to Beautiful Banyan Tree and I'm ready to book my 3rd. Juan was our concierge both times and he was amazing. He ensured all of my needs were met by making my dining reservations prior to our arrival. We ate at Tomahawk, Cello, Sands, Sur beach Club and ventured to the El Pueblito where we had the best burger and chatted with Arturo and another gentleman whose name i cannot remember. Banyan Tree is so relaxing and a wonderful place to reconnect with your spouse. THE ENTIRE STAFF go out of their way to accommodate your every need/ want/ desire. From the Bellman to engineers who heat the pools everyone is friendly. I've visited Hotel Mousai, Atelier and Secrets Moxche. None of them compare to Banyan Tree. This place makes it hard to visit anywhere else because your expectations will be super high after staying at BTM. Stop reading reviews and book.... you won't regret it......almost forgot..THE SPA IS THE BEST SPA EVER. Make sure you book a massage at the spa.
