About the Hotel

The Heathman Hotel Portland is one of only 30 hotels in the world to enjoy a four-diamond rating for 27 consecutive years. And that’s not the only reason why a stay here is memorable. Bright, eclectic rooms compliment an art collection that includes Henk Pender and Andy Warhol, and a cozy lending library stocks signed editions by authors who have stayed there – more than 2,500 titles to date, all available to be delivered to your bedside. A recent landfill-free “green” renovation makes this pet-friendly hotel one of the best environmental options in Portland.

Great Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Absolutely FANTASTIC!! I was there on business, and it felt like a quick get-away. The entire staff were on point. Everyone in our group felt the same way. I am so looking forward to another stay in this beautiful city and at The Heathman Hotel. JB

Not the Heathman of yesterday...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The bed was comfortable. The water was hot. The staff overall acted like our presence was an inconvenience and were rude. Getting the front desk to help you was almost impossible. We had dinner at the Tavern and the food was okay. The Tavern waitress was great but the hostess barely said a word and it felt like we interrupted her chat with other staff when we approached for our reservation. For a high end hotel this was a 1-star experience.

The Tavern at The Heathman - Don't waste your time or money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I recently stopped by The Tavern at the Heathman for a pre-theater dinner before meeting friends, and it was a huge disappointment from the moment I stepped in. Even though I indicated dinner, I as seated in the bar area. While the restaurant was empty (literally) I was offered a table next to the waiter station and bathroom, when I pointed to a table closer to the middle of the room, the hostess heaved a big sigh, rolled her eyes and gave me a lecture about how these were reserved and it was going to mess up her seating plans. In the hour and half I was there, only 2 other guest showed up. It took the waitress about 10 minutes to come to the table, she'd been at the bar chatting with co-workers, scrolling on her phone, laughing, scrolling. She seemed put-out that she had to wait on a table in the lounge and made it clear that she wanted to get back to her co-workers who were watching the game on TV. To help things along. The food arrived cold (crab bisque soup with puff pastry), the bisque was watery with covered in dried herbs (I hope they were herbs) floating around the bowl, no crab meat and no puff pastry. The glass of wine, (white) arrived warm and stale. I would have mentioned the soup as the kitchen may not be aware, but the waitress never came back during the meal, I was going to order a second course but never had a chance. Mind you, this was an empty restaurant, 30 minutes later she stomps over and drops the check and walks off. I pulled out my card to pay, but she never came back, after about another 20 minutes I waved down the bartender and asked to pay. The waitress was laughing with the hostess and scrolling on their phones together. When the bartender yelled over to her, her demeanor changed to angry and red faced, she marched over and grabbed the check and my card off the table, re-appeared about 5 minutes later and dropped it on the table - no thank you, no see you again, no nothing. The only thing that lingered was her body odor and the fact that she hadn't wiped properly last time she visited the toilet. On my wait out, I was going to address the service with the hostess; however, she dramatically turned her back and was scrolling on her phone with her coworkers as I walk by. It's a nice looking space from the street and held much promise. It's right next to the concert hall, therefore perfectly situated for pre and post theater business. Unfortunately, the service is appalling. I wonder if management is aware. And that my friends is the service at the The Tavern at the Heathman.

A great “home away from home,” especially if you are in town for a performance at one of the nearby theaters.

Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful library/lounge area, and excellent location. The valet parking service makes an overnight stay there very convenient for attending a performance at one of the nearby theaters. Can highly recommend.

Quick Weekend at the Heathman

The Heathman is a beautiful property conveniently located in downtown Portland. All hotel staff we interacted with were professional, helpful and friendly. We brought our dog and were offered a dog bed and bowls for her. We would definitely stay again.
