The charming village of Portovenere, which sits on the point connecting the renowned Cinque Terre and the inspiring Gulf of the Poets, is the perfect place to experience the serenity of Southern Liguria. The village has been noteworthy since Roman times as it has provided protection for the gulf and acted as a safe harbor to those sailing the Mediterranean A Franciscan monastery in the XVI century, Grand Hotel Portovenere is located on the most panoramic point of Portovenere, directly overlooking the sea and the island of Palmaria.

A beautiful waterfront hotel in the picturesque town of Portovenere, convenient for visiting Cinque Terre towns, but a respite from the crowds of tourists. Our room was very comfortable w/ a large patio and spectacular views. The staff was truly exceptional - so friendly, knowledgeable, and all went above and beyond to make our stay fabulous! Special thanks to the front desk staff for their kindness and flexibility in planning wonderful daily outings for us from a hillside winery to the fabulous beach club. The restaurant and room service was excellent with very attentive and friendly staff.

Superb breakfast, the view on the harbour and castle is outstanding. Booking a room with a view is definitely worth it. The staff are absolutely marvellous and help make the stay exceptional. The bar is the perfect place for a pre or post dinner drink... we also had dinner at the restaurant there as we couldn't keep away! Looking forward to returning soon!

The hotel is beautifully situated at the port and over looks the harbour. Our room had a large balcony with comfortable seating for us to lounge. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The staff was extremely helpful with all details. We chose this hotel so we could ride the ferry up the coast and visit all the Cinque Terra.

Our family recently booked two rooms and had an exemplary stay! The staff provided the finest and most genuine kind service we have ever experienced at a hotel. Every individual we interacted with was so incredibly friendly, positive, and welcoming. Additionally, all our needs were so attentively responded to (from extra blankets, to non-fragranced cleaning products, to tea kettles, and to outing assistance). We started our mornings with the delicious breakfast buffet and after our daily adventures it was a treat to return to the Grand Hotel Poteverne and thoroughly relax in the beautiful setting with the exceptional staff! We look forward to returning and are recommending to all our friends and family that they come to Porto Venere and stay at this lovely hotel!

This hotel is situated with a beautiful view of the Portovenere marina and a convenient stroll along the water to historic churches high on hilltops. The hotel itself is impeccably renovated and the staff is kind and helpful. It is located with a bus stop that offers low cost access to the railway at La Spezia that goes to all the towns along Cinque Terre. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the wait staff is attentive in every way. The town of Portovenere is still preserved with narrow streets and picturesque houses and doorways. It is, in many ways, different that the other Cinque Terre towns with a little more antiquity to see.
