Disappointing rooms and service from front desk. Paid extra for a deluxe suite which should have been the best rooms in this hotel. That's not what we got and I was really heartbroken that they just didn't care enough to address this. I sent 6 emails to this hotel asking for help, I'd only had surgery 3 weeks before and did not want to queue in reception to discuss this. I asked that they come and find us but they just didn't bother. We even identified ourselves and our room number when we did complain in person that dirty buckets of water were left right outside our rooms and they still didn't address the problems. They knew our room number and the concerns over the room but didn't address it and even after we came home they're not interested enough to restore their reputation when they failed us so badly here. We looked onto a roof in a dark room with a tiny sitting area. The furnishings were stained and dirty. The bathroom floor and bath were dirty and the bed linen we had was ripped with holes (although this was changed after 2 days). There are mop buckets with dirty water and dirty linen bags and carts left in the corridors and outside our room for several hours. The linen baskets were dumped there for our entire stay. This is not luxury and made us feel like we were in the working areas of the hotel, not a luxury boutique hotel guest area. It was really disappointing and I was so looking forward to this trip and stay at the Iron Gate. A place I'd wanted to stay for a few years. It's a real pity they will put you in the terrible rooms until you complain as has been described by other patrons. We didn't have the help we should have here and have been offered nothing to rectify this. We come to Prague twice a year. We know where to avoid now. The restaurant and staff in the Deer restaurant are wonderful though.

First night at hotel and no hot water. Spoke to reception who stated it was an ongoing issue for at least a day so why put us in the room. No guarantee of hot water in the morning for my shower but I was told to complain to the manager who will be in at 10am. Not very helpful but admittedly it is late but we had no hot water when we arrived and an issue they were aware of. Not good.

Definitely not a 5* We had booked a Superior Room and got a room in the attic. I complained and were given a beautiful room (so complain). The hotel and room is like a furnace everywhere you go. If the food at breakfast was as hot as the heating, then that would be great. Poor breakfast with cheap watery fruit juice, turned up meat and cheese and scrambled eggs like mush. No free bottles of water and coffee/tea supplies very frugal. If you suffer from sinusitis, the heat in this hotel and the rooms will kill you. We had our windows open and the noise from the streets was loud. The pillows and mattress are hard as rock, so don't be surprised if you go home with bags under your eyes and sinusitis from hell!

We stayed here for three nights. It’s a fabulous hotel with lots of charm located in Old Town a short walk from the plaza with the astronomical clock and right opposite Prague’s reported best restaurant. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. We had a car which made for some interesting navigation to get to the hotel given the narrow cobbled streets. That aside, the staff were fabulous and took car if parking no problem. We stayed over a weekend in December, which was busy and because the bars are open late on both the Friday and Saturday night the streets were noisy till the wee hours. We’d pick that staying during the week would be much quieter. The breakfast was great and we’d highly recommend the hotel restaurant, Deer. The food was exquisite and not much more expensive than what you’d pay for pizza and pasta in the local plaza. We were fortunate to dine in the private dining room so it was extra special. Would highly recommend staying here.

My daughter and I stayed here while visiting the Christmas markets in Prague. It was a great location! It was super close to the main market in old town, but off on a side street so that it was relatively quiet. The staff were fantastic and super helpful with out luggage when we arrived early. The breakfast was fantastic. We had a suite with a courtyard view and the room was well appointed and relatively comfortable. The bed was a little firm for our taste, but after walking all over the city for 20,000 steps, we didn't even care!
