Czech it out!

We had a small double room, it was over the courtyard and on the first floor. This was accessed by a secure lift. A concierge showed us to our room and helped with bags. The back was open onto the street to allow prospective diners in to eat at their restaurant. However security was good, lifts could not be used without key. Downstairs they have function rooms and functions we’re happening every weekend night we were there, which was noisy however this didn’t bother us. The room window opened over a busy street. There’s an Absintherie there which is busy until approx 5am then an hour later the street is busy again with people getting about their day. I felt I needed a good sleep when I got home so I suggest ear plugs. The room was spotlessly clean. I was pleased with the cleaner service. Mini bar - I used a couple of waters approx £2.50. - £3.00 each. The supermarket prices next door for water was similar to be honest and I bought a bottle of wine in the supermarket next door - Primitivo £8.50 approx. On the first morning we had no hot water although the heating was on. The radiators were warm all our stay. We informed reception about the hot water and when we returned later it was working again. They left us a birthday card and chocolates for my husbands birthday which was a nice touch. We had drinks in the bar - Hammer Head Czech single malt was £20 a shot and my husband had a double which was a shock when the bill came - his fault for not asking though. Mind out if you like to try local spirits. Ask first. Nice Hugo Spritz and the bar area is lovely - we were on holiday and just enjoyed the ambiance. We ate at the Deer Restaurant once I’ve done a separate review for that. Breakfast was good we liked it. Coffee and juices, porridge, pancakes, cakes, meats cheeses and bread which you can toast. As well as bacon, eggs done 3 ways and sausage, baked beans too. Can’t complain at all. All in all yes I’d go back, the staff are very good indeed.

Perfect stay

We stayed at Iron Gate Hotel & Suites as a couple and had a fantastic experience. The location couldn’t have been better—just a short walk from the main square in Old Town, with bars and restaurants right on the doorstep. Despite being so central, the hotel was wonderfully quiet, thanks to excellent soundproofing, and the thick walls of the old building. Our room was massive and beautifully decorated, blending the charm of the historic building with modern touches. It was set just off a courtyard, which added a unique touch to the stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. There were a couple of minor things to note: we had no mobile or internet signal in the room, which made us feel slightly uneasy being totally cut off, though it didn’t affect our stay too much. Also, it took a little while to get the hot water running, so if you’re in a rush for a “quick” shower, keep that in mind. Overall, Iron Gate Hotel & Suites was the perfect place for our trip to Prague, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Highly recommended!

Heads up

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel is ideally situated,2 min walk from the old town square. Making all sites within walking distance. With its unique decor and old buildings contained in a court yard, has great character. Even when showing proof of our booking confirmation and payment. There was confusion as the hotel tried to charge us for a suite. The room was unforgettable. On the 3rd floor contained in the attic. This made it difficult to get in and out of the bed and we had to go up and down stairs to the bathroom. We put up with this as hotel was full and there was no free upgrade to change. Suggest you check room before agreeing to it. The food on the menu is of high quality and the staff are friendly. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and lots of choice.

Great stay, amazing location

Great location just 100 yards from old town square. Had a junior suite and room was good, very clean bathroom. Bar in hotel was quite expensive but to be expected. I understand the issues people mention regarding breakfast, if you are not seated in the cramped downstairs area you have several steps to negotiate with your food but is the only issue with the hotel. I would really recommend a stay we thoroughly enjoyed the hotel.

Fantastic 3 night stay

Great hotel in a great location, just a few minutes walk from old town square where the lovely Christmas markets were. Spotlessly clean, warm and spacious room. Plenty of breakfast choice. Added bonus of Deer restaurant. Very quiet hotel and big comfy bed .
