It is hard to find much positive to say about this hotel, aside from the fact it is very close to the Providence Performing Arts Center. As convenient as this is, however, it is not enough reason to stay here and we will never return. Upon check-in there was immediate confusion. Our room had been paid in advance for a lower rate but they had no record of that and seemed very confused on how to check it. Thankfully we have the receipts and bank statements to prove this. But, more on that in a moment. We were also told that cookies are provided in the lobby and went to try one... only to find just one cookie remained. Even hours later it was just the same sad, lonely cookie. Once we got to our room you could tell how low the level of maintenance was. Very dated carpet and furniture... all looking well weathered by use and time. Only two towels for our family were included, when four seems so normal now. No sheets, pillows, or blankets provided for the pull-out sofa bed. No bedding at all. We got settled and went out to the show, asking for the pull-out bed sheets and pillows as we left. We were assured it would be there when we returned from the show. We got back to the room at about 11:00 PM and there was still no bedding, so we went back to the front desk to request it in person and someone finally brought it to the room. That is when we pulled the bed from the sofa. Holy cow. It was disgusting. It was nauseating to look at. Many small brown stains all around the mattress, small splinters of wood stuck to it, and one very large stain right where you'd normally put your head to sleep (see photo). I don't know if it was a fecal stain from a child having an accident, or a blood or old urine stain, or just coffee or hot chocolate, but it really was nauseating. Lights were flickering in the room too but that may have been weather related as it was raining and sleeting out. The next morning we went to the hotel's Backstage restaurant for the included breakfast. It was... not good. Very limited options. Breakfast sandwiches in a bag were made with partially stale rolls. The sausage and eggs in them tasted very strange and watery. Waffles were okay but not great. Every member of the family decided we did not want to keep trying to eat this food and would just leave sooner than we planned and stop at a Dunkin for some better food. Not gourmet, but we knew it would be better than what we found at Backstage. We called for our car which was left at valet the night before. They asked for a ticket number, but they had never given us a valet ticket at check-in. They just took the keys at the front desk, said it was $40, and told us it would be all set. They asked for our name and then reluctantly shared they could not find a car under that name. They had no idea where our car was... but said they were working on it. About 20 minutes later we were checking out in the lobby. We asked for a receipt, eager to confirm they were not charging us for the room twice, and they said it would come by email. We asked about the car again and the woman confidently told us "They are getting it right now". We waited another 20 minutes... 40 minutes now since we first called for the car... and still no car. Finally the valet attendant who had been sitting there studying his phone asked "Are you waiting for a car?". Seriously? Once again, he was confused where it might be or how to find it, then he found our car keys and decided to go get the car. Clearly, during this entire time, nobody was actually looking for our car or making any effort. $40/night for a valet service that is confused, losing cars, and making no effort to take care of your vehicle is a joke. Once the car finally arrived we were more than happy to leave and never return. Also, they still have not sent a receipt for the stay by email, even though it has been many hours since we checked out. Our next step will be to confirm whether we were double charged for the room or not... once the staff figures out how to send a receipt by email. It is almost comical how this hotel found a way to disappoint at every turn.

Clean, quiet, and comfortable with a friendly attentive staff. A short walk to many restaurants and the Providence Performing Arts Center to see a show! We will stay here again. The building is beautiful with original artwork in the rooms and lobby.

We booked the Hotel and paid through Priceline. We had to attend a holiday party a couple of blocks away and felt more comfortable staying in the hotel overnight than driving after the party. We checked in before the party and came back around 8:00PM. TV was not working (only Weather Channel for the West Coast!) Called the reception and was told to call again in the morning. Room was noisy (humming motor) even with the heat turned off. No extra blanket. Room was cold. We checked out around 1:00AM as we could not sleep and drove home. A charge for $22.60 on my CC was discovered. Called the hotel, was told by an employee, who refused to give her name, that the charge was for amenities. I argued we didn't use ANYTHING. Was told the charge cannot be refunded whether or not you use anything. This is a TOTAL scam and rip-off. The employee also stated there is no manager. Disputing the charge with our bank. Stay away from this hotel with highly questionable practice. When I called Wyndham they gave me a @gmail address to write to the manager!! Unbelievable!

Was just here for one night for work. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and centrally located to numerous restaurants. It’s an old hotel, so the rooms have more of an historic feel, but they still provide modern amenities. The front entrance staff are all very nice. They have a restaurant with both a decent breakfast and dinner. All in all, a quiet and comfortable stay.

We were checked in by Eli and Penelope- although very casual in both dress and manner, Eli was friendly and helpful, and offered us complimentary amenities upon check in which included soda or water, and there was a cocoa/cookie bar set up by the elevator which was a nice touch. A list of local recommended restaurants was provided. The hotel lobby and our guest room exuded charm with traditional furnishings and gilded mirrors, and the guest room bathroom was very nice. Bed was reasonably comfortable and the room was clean. Hotel breakfast was delicious and complimentary. Valet parking was easy and quick. Hotel is located within sight of the PPAC and easy walking distance to Providence Coal Fired Pizza, which was delicious, as well as a few other restaurants. My only complaints: we stayed for 2 nights on a free certificate, but our credit card shows two pending charges totaling over $700. Honestly, the hotel should have set our guest room rate to zero upon surrender of the certificate, with our card only being authorized for incidentals. My second complaint is that the complimentary amenities and breakfast listed above really aren't complimentary- there's a $20 per day "amenity fee" that I assume goes towards both of these. I don't mind paying a little extra for those, and we did enjoy what was offered- but I just wish we had been told at check in.
