Desire Pearl Resort & Spa

This was our first time back in 10 years. 4 nights our first time around. 5 nights for this stay. While we weren’t a big fan of the breakfast’s, we truly enjoyed lunches and dinners. From the Bartenders to the Playmakers, the personnel there are awesome. This trip was really about the two of us. We brought costumes for all 5 theme nights. While they did change up the theme night on Saturday, we were able to recover with a couple clothing purchases on site. A little pricey, but they worked out well. My wife’s neon outfit came off altogether at the disco when it was just down to us and another couple. I guess you could call it foreplay for our time back at our room. In addition to the theme nights, we also indulged ourselves with two couples massages. The masseuse and massuer had the magic touch on both occasions. If it wasn’t for the cost, we would have gotten massages every day 🤣!!! While we are not exactly in the lifestyle, nor would we consider ourselves true naturist, we felt right at home during our stay at Desire Pearl. We visited with several couples and everyone there made you feel welcome. We are in the first half of our 60’s. We were happy to find out that we were not alone. If we had one grip, it would be that we threw away a day on the catamaran excursion sold by a third party with an office located at Desire. While rough murky water was not the fault of anyone (weather related), we were surprised to find out that we had 3 hours scheduled on Isla Mujeres when we were told it was half of that. It was our fault for not asking more questions, but we were also told by a person at the front desk that the outing included nude snorkeling. We believed that to be the case based on the fact that 10 years ago we knew the group that went out on a nude catamaran snorkeling trip. To our surprise we found ourselves on a much larger boat with around 50 people. The lunch was OK. Drinks were full of sugar and the alcohol was definitely not top shelf. We survived the journey. Met some nice people in the van to and from the boat. Should have went to Tulum that day instead. In closing, the personnel at the hotel in a position to sway decisions should have a clear understanding of what third party vendors are selling out of their hotel. In the case we were asked if we would go back to a Desire property again. The answer would be yes. We booked several nights at RM just ahead of this coming Thanksgiving.

We've been guests of the resort since it opened 13 years ago. We love the energy and options for entertainment. We do have one disappointment and that is the evening music/dance in the lobby at 9:00. When we were here in July we were thrilled to find 5 out of 6 nights with a live band. Everyone was dancing. This time there was only 1 evening with a live band and many with non-dancing type music including a saxaphone performance and a cello performance. No one danced until the DJ played dancing music when the evening was almost over. However, the staff continues to amaze! We'd like to recognize many staff members who stood out, starting with the new chef, Ruben and the new Guest Service Manager, Daniel Sanchez, followed by: Aphrodite: Wilbert, Ediberto, Manuel; Pearl: Jesus; DJs Omar, Alex; Housekeeping: Lesli; Front Desk: Javier, Cami; Lobby Bar: Aaron, Pool: Victor, Horatio; Butlers: Erick and Hector; Maintenance: Manuel.

The resort is beautiful. Well maintained and clean. Rooms were nice with a lot of space. Plenty of activities to keep you interested. Food was very good. Overall a good visit. Got a fishing trip in while she went for a massage and facial. Nice little town down the beach to get essentials or souvenirs.

Before going, make sure you have read about the resort and know what to expect. As long as you understand and it is what you are looking for, you will absolutely love it. The ocean view room is nothing fancy, but perfectly accommodating. The pool is beautiful, and always full of happy, friendly people. The bartenders are great and drinks are delicious. The hot tub was where we had some really amazing new experiences as a couple. Anything goes, and there is no judgement. The restaurants were all fantastic. Overall, some of the best “resort food” that we have had. The gym was a little small, although it has what you need, but we preferred to get exercise on the beach. You can play beach volleyball, which was an intense workout, or just walk/run on the beach which we loved doing. I highly recommend the Provoke photo shoot with Zu. It is an amazing experience and the photos were amazing. Zu can make anyone look beautiful, and the experience itself was so much fun. It was one of my favorite memories from the trip. The night life was fun, but we don’t like to stay up late so we missed out on a lot of it, but that didn’t stop this from being an amazing trip. We will definitely be back.

Pearl is an incredible complex. The staff is very attentive, friendly and always willing to help you with any of your needs. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The administration is always walking, asking if there is anything they can do for you and responding quickly to any problems you may have. We have been going to Pearl since 2018 and we consider it our second home.
