The Fives Oceanfront

We went stayed at The Fives Oceanfront - Puerto Morelos for a family member's destination wedding in February. Overall I was pleased with our stay. We go to Cancun every year and always stay in the Hotel Zone. This wouldn't have been a place I would have normally considered, but b/c of the wedding being here we stayed here and I'm glad we got to stay in a different part of the Yucatan coast. We read a lot of the recent reviews that were somewhat concerning. Especially the reviews around the holidays it sounded like they were packed and overwhelmed. However, we didn't have any major issues. Restaurant service was not slow, it was a reasonable pace. Yes, sometimes getting a beach chair was difficult (we read that on the reviews too, so we packed a few foldable chairs of our own too which came in handy) but I would say a similar situation to other beach hotels. You need to get out there early. We were never harassed by timeshare salesman (which would have really irritated me) and we never heard excessive noise from our room. The beach is nice, they keep the seawood swept up and clean. We had the all-inclusive rate and we usually try to avoid all-inclusive places but this was way better. No buffets, just order whatever you want from the menu. Overall the food quality was pretty good. Puerto Morelos is a charming small beachside town. The hotel is relatively new and quite clean. There were some minor quibbles. First the food was usually quite good but we ate at the Italian restaurant whom our relatives said was incredible and it was really mediocre to us. I had the Osso Buco, the meat was cold on the inside, like it had been refrigerated and then heated up again. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at RoMarley several times and it was always quite good. The coffee bar service serving Marley's own coffee beans was mediocre but included too. Mixed drinks were good with name brand liquors but somewhat weak. All in all a pleasant surprise. I would consider coming and recommend it.

We stayed a week at this lovely boutique hotel. Our room was beautiful and clean. The hotel had good service (sometimes a little slower in the restaurants), and very friendly staff. Yoe was full of energy and smiles every morning greeting us for breakfast at RoMarley, our favorite breakfast waiter, Carlos, worked so hard. Eduardo was an amazing waiter at one of our dinners at RoMarley, we were well looked after. The beach was nice, the seaweed is cleared and the sand is raked, numerous times a day. We spent most of our time on the beach and were amazed by Ulises, he was working the beach all by himself, we had the best beach service that day! We didn't mind that it was quiet at night at the resort, it was an easy walk to town if you wanted to find some night life and feel safe doing so. The hotel offered a Mexican night at the roof top bar, Reggae Music and an incredible seafood barbeque on the beach, and they even hosted a SuperBowl Party for guests. Gustavo was great getting folks involved in crafts and dancing. We truly enjoyed our time and hope to be back one day.

Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The pool and beachside loungers were terrific and all the staff were friendly and helpful in our needs. We did not do the all inclusive, but still enjoyed all the bar, restaurants and services. I cant think of anything that disappointed and we will be back next year.

The bed was very comfortable; the room was rather large. Nice sized balcony as well. All staff was wonderful. We enjoyed being able to have bikes to use. Only downside was the pool was cold. It was only in the 70's when we were there and cloudy. Also would have enjoyed a hot tub.

The staff here make this place PERFECT! The pool views are fantastic, the food amazing, especially lunches up at the pool restaurant OMG!! Soooo good!! The location is perfect, it's a nice walk or ride to the town. The beach area is nice. The rooms are comfortable. The spa is very relaxing. The daily crafts and activities are really fun. We highly recommend this resort. We have been here a few times now. We will definitely be back!
