About the Hotel

The Riviera Maya has its share of luxury hotels, but sophisticated Grand Residences Riviera Cancun is a notable exception to the area's crowded mega resorts. The luxurious beachfront property only a half hour drive from Yucatan's busy hub is snugly protected by a nature reserve and is fronted by a private white sandy beach. The quaint fishing village of Puerto Morelos—famous for its coral reefs, dense jungle and quiet beaches—is a quick stroll away. Roomy villas and suites modeled after colonial-style haciendas are designed in hues of burnt orange with dark wood accents and colorful wall art. They face the turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean and include large living areas, kitchens and private terraces plus high-tech creature comforts such as complimentary wireless Internet access, iPod docks, and large LED-screen televisions.

Reviews for Grand Residences Riviera Cancun

Excellent Resort- Excellent Service-Excellent Food

Our group loved everything about this trip. The resort and beach area were very well maintained and clean. Our room was a beachfront junior suite. It’s basically a lock-off bedroom of the master suite which had it’s own entrance. At check-in, I requested a high floor for the better view. In our past experiences, if you weren’t at least higher than a palm tree, then your view was usually poor. And especially if you were on the first floor, you had obstruction plus loss of privacy and people walking by either looking in or using your patio furniture, etc. At check in they told me I had a first floor unit so i requested to be reassigned to a higher floor, but nothing was available until the next day. Disappointed, we went to the room and found it was not at a ground level, it was more like a second floor and no obstructions, right smack at the edge of the beach. Huge floor to ceiling sliding door and window and a balcony- on the ‘first floor’! We cancelled the room change request. All levels are great here. Large rooms, large showers and a jacuzzi tub. No room key to carry around- the chip is built into your bracelet. It’s a smaller property so everything was close and convenient. The beach was very clean, even had a tractor running a couple times a day to pick up anything that washed up. Getting beach or pool chairs was not an issue because you can reserve your chairs the morning before. There were plenty of chairs. Beach service was constant and consistent. They will set up your chairs with multiple towels, open your umbrella and provide cold water before you even sit down. Drinks and food service was excellent- waitstaff were extremely hard workers. There seemed to be a minimum of four servers constantly doing rounds for drinks or food from the beach area. The pool area had at least the same. Quiet resort with popular music playing (but not too loud) at the main pool. Some activities throughout the day are scheduled such as cooking classes, Spanish classes, bike ride tour, blackjack, bingo, trivia, water exercise classes, bocce ball, ping pong, and more. Gracie and Jennifer did an excellent job with activities. You were also able to check out games or equipment all day long- we did bocce ball on the beach nearly every day. The beach did have a very attentive life guard every day at the beach- the other resorts nearby did not have this. Three bars, top shelf liquor available at all, no up charge, it’s included. Yes, there are only two actual restaurants, but they changed the menu and theme every day. Don’t let this deter you in the least- they do a great job with this. A few of the evenings we had live music. Two of the nights the entire restaurant sang along to popular songs like Sweet Caroline- it was a lot of fun. The food was excellent everywhere. I have a hard time deciding if one restaurant was better than another because we had great dinners every single night. (Mexican, Italian, BBQ (more like steakhouse), seafood, International- each night you had at least two choices of restaurants that constantly rotated. Your concierge will set up dinner reservations for you at check in, no waiting in lines. At breakfast you could order a la carte or do the buffet with omelette bar or both. Again, really great food and so many options. Grand Residences has raised the bar in comparison with other high level resorts. The best of the best in service. All staff were great, but I wanted to give a special shout out to Liza our concierge, Miguel Santos, server for French and Seafood nights, David, the gourmet chef who we were able to personally thank for such wonderful dinners, Oscar at the lobby and pool bars, Osman and Josue, two of our beach waiters. Everyone here deserves special mention for making every guest experience the best. We look forward to returning.

The resort is wonderful. We met the chef Francisco and our concierge Iliana was excellent with follow up and making all of our reservations. Juan at the blue Heaven beach bar was very friendly and quite helpful. Felix is an awesome Bartender.

Best massage ever!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We had a 50 minute Swedish massage at the Grand Residence by Royal Resorts in Puerto Morales. Ana and America did my husband and my massage/. We have done massages for the past 15 years and can honestly say they were the best massages we have ever had in Mexico!

There are a lot of happy owners at the pool and beach. The master suite is the best room in Mexico. Puerto Morales has shopping, restaurants, activities, etc. The resort is somewhat secluded, but close enough to both Cancun and Playa Del Carmen to visit. The service at a Royal Resort is hands down the best in the industry.

Beautiful resort

Beautiful resort. Rooms are amazing and spacious. Nice pool areas and pool bars. Small beach area but great beach service. 2 Restaurants with great theme nights. French night was our favorite. The lobby bar is great. We loved our server Felix. The cooking and mixology classes were very fun. Painting activity was fun and they make your project look professional. Totally worth it.
