Reviews for Waldorf Astoria Cancun

“I recommend you look for another hotel.”

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We decided to spend the weekend at this hotel, drawn by its recent opening and attractive architectural design. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of our expectations. Despite being an expensive hotel, the services and facilities are nowhere near what one would expect from a luxury experience. We encountered torn towels, a jacuzzi with a non-functional hot water system, and worn-out, uncomfortable beach loungers. The beach itself is very small and not ideal for enjoying the surroundings. The dining options were very limited, with little variety or noteworthy quality. This hotel is also not suitable for families with children. It lacks a kids’ club and doesn’t offer activities or entertainment options for children, especially on cloudy days when staying in the room becomes particularly challenging. On top of that, there is a construction site next to the hotel, and the constant noise made it impossible to relax or rest properly. In summary, while the architectural design has potential, the lack of attention to detail, poor service, and overall disappointing experience do not justify the high cost. We wouldn’t recommend it.

My first review because normally I am not that impressed. But here, I was.

The hotel is quietly exquisite and so is the staff. The food at each restaurant was excellent - unexpectedly so. I went to rest and did - this is not the place for someone looking for a lot of activity. The pools and ocean were enough for me. The double queen room is well designed - we had plenty of storage. The shower looks out on the ocean! A shout out to Ivanna who remembered me every morning, to Carlos an excellent teacher of all things tequila, Marco who walked us through the delicious tasting menu at Malbeque, Francisco at Jao for his dessert recommendations and Daniel, Fernando and Alain at Chaya. Finally, serious compliments to Arturo at the spa who actually allowed me to walk again after a deep tissue massage.

Amazing 50th birthday celebration.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

My husband and I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria for my 50th birthday. We absolutely loved everything about this hotel, including the beautiful lobby, the pool, the spa, and the gorgeous room that we were graciously upgraded to. The food for the most part was amazing. It was fresh and delicious with many items being made from scratch in house. The only exception would be unfortunately my birthday dinner at Malpeque, I ordered a fillet and it came out, not cooked properly the first time and they tried to remake it, but the second one was a very oddly cut piece of meat, and it just was not hitting the spot. With that being said the manager came out and spoke with me, they took it off my bill and the very next day the food and beverage manager also spoke to me, saying how sorry they were that we did didn’t enjoy our dinner. I do have to say that the service at this hotel is impeccable and they really try to make your stay amazing and all about about you. We met some many great people at this hotel, and they were always smiling and asking how we were doing some exceptional people were our chambermaid Laura Lopez who decorated our room for my birthday, our pool waiter, Carlos who brought me some sparking wine to celebrate and our server at JA’O , Francisco and so many more. Also the staff at the spa were top notch. The spa is 100% worth it. In my opinion, the only negative thing about this hotel and it’s very minor for us as we don’t mind but the beach area is pretty small. They do have some chairs on a raised area that’s on sand and you do have to go down some stairs or jump off the ledge to get to the Ocean. There is also some construction next to the hotel as they are building more hotels along that whole strip, but it didn’t bother us. Overall, I would rate this trip a 10 out of 10 and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Spa was wonderful

Anita in the spa gave an excellent massage and customer service was above and beyond! I highly recommend visiting this beautiful spa and hotel. The accommodations are very relaxing and the facilities were nice and well kept. The relaxation room after was also a nice touch!

Surpassed all our expectations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Beyond my expectations on all fronts. The team at the Waldorf knows what they are doing! The service, food and staff and first class all the way. We were upgraded to an ocean front suite and it may be the nicest room I ever stayed in. The Mexican restaurant food was a trip favorite.
