Barcelo Puerto Vallarta

Another great trip to Barceló Puerto Vallarta Mismaloya. Looking forwards to our next trip in 2025..

Hotel could use an update. Staff just doesn’t seem very happy. I honestly could say we felt like a bother to be there. Food was a hit or miss. Lots of inconstancies. Very small beach. Just 1-2 rows of chairs up against the wall. Unless it was high tide, then there was no beach. Great location if you want to get a water taxi and go snorkeling. Rooms were a good size, larger than most. I’ve been to Mexico over a dozen times, this resort would probably be rated very close to the bottom of my list, if not the very bottom.

We stayed at the Barcelo for a week. The staff was great. Not overly friendly, but good enough. Oscar from the buffet is SPECTACULAR! A total ray of sunshine. And Gerardo at the swim up bar was equally wonderful. As far as the food goes, the quality of the food is pretty good, but the choices were lacking severely. The options for kids are dismal at best. If your kid eats like a normal picky-ish kid, they’ll go hungry. My kid barely survived on bread, eggs and French fries. Don’t expect to be able to make any reservations. We were only able to get reservations one night of our 4 night stay. We were also turned away at the snack bar for lunch because my kiddo had water drops on his legs (we had just gotten out of the pool, quickly dried and put on clothes - since you HAVE to be dressed to eat anywhere). I bent down and wiped his legs with my own swimsuit cover up and we were then allowed in. The staff helped us find my kids lost blanket that had been taken away in the laundry because he had accidentally left it in his bed. Everyone jumped to action and it was recovered, thank god. My best friend however was not as lucky with her wedding band. It was in the safe, but went missing somehow. We don’t know what happened, but nothing else was missing. I am not laying blame anywhere, but if you find a ring at the resort, let me know! Hah! Captain Jack on your way down to the beach will let you know if they have any turtles to release nightly, so make sure to check in with him when you arrive! Overall, I wouldn’t go back. The setting was gorgeous, but I just think there is a better hotel out there for families.

If you haven’t been you should, the pool bar is amazing and Gerardo and Alfredo are amazing bartenders as they are quick and attentive a well as funny. I was at the pool bar most of the time with them making speciality drinks and man are they good. All I did is say surprise me and man the drinks were good nothing bad about any drinks.

Alfredo and Gerardo pol bar they best of the trip, we absolutely love them and they make amazing drinks! 100% recommend 😊😊 We have had the best time here. The swim up bat is amazing. They have the best bartenders. Greatest place to visit and have a good time
