Spreading across hectares dominated by a dramatic and dazzling, arid, rocky landscape, the Hotel Fasano Punta del Este combines private homes, hotel bungalows and other luxury amenities like spa, equestrian center, golf and polo fields and a 3-km beach stretch on the riverside of Arroyo Maldonado. The luxury hotel offers two sizes of accommodation, both of which offer private terraces, limestone bathrooms, and living quarters with sofas. Serenity is to feel all around the spa, built as a single-story concrete volume, where rooms are placed in the perimeter leaving an open indoor garden in the center of the building.

Words cannot describe this beautiful weekend experience. I decided to spend a weekend there before heading to Montevideo for work. The service began well in advance.of the visit. Concierge services got in touch to ensure that my visit was well-planned and catered to my every need. I was picked up at the airport by the hotel transport arrived earlier than expected. I was not only given an amazing room upgrade but was also given am early check-in at 10am and a late checkout the next day at 1.30pm. An extraordinary property with decadent features and a personalised service that left me amazed. The views are amazing and it is off the Richter scale peaceful with beautiful gardens and architecture. I decided to stay on the main property but you can also get beautiful standalone bungalows. Transport is arranged easily on the 500+ hectare property using golf carts (there is also a golf course on the property for golf enthusiasts!) I had a spa treatment, swum in the beautiful spa pool and used the huge gym, went horseriding, had a personalised yoga class, did a 2 hour day trip to the seaside and enjoyed the restaurants on the property. I also relaxed in my room and had a bath, watched the views... saw a fox, many birds and wildlife... back to beautiful nature. The sunrises and sunsets were spellbinding. If you've lost faith in hotels then head here to redeem your faith in the magical properties of an otherworldly escape that feels like a home. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Hotel Fasano Punta del Este for 2 nights during a month-long trip in South America (@wolfestreettravel on Instagram and wolfestreettravel.com). After agonizing over whether to stay at Hotel Fasano or Estancia Vik or Bahia Vik during our stay in the Punta del Este / Jose Ignacio area, we finally chose Hotel Fasano based on the individual villa accommodations (there do not appear to be rooms with outdoor space at Estancia Vik, for example). We are so incredibly happy with the choice. The super cool / brutalist-style hotel and villas are top notch in every way, service was spectacular, and our dinner in the main restaurant (only open 3 days a week) was one of our dining highlights of the trip. Only downside was that a resident fox stole a Birkenstock that was left outside on our villa terrace! We wish we had planned our trip to stay another night at Hotel Fasano.

This spot is not what I read about and we paid a lot of money to get. It is also impossible to get a response from their staff. A waste of time and money. I would not recommend it because all of these reasons.

The Fasano deserves its recognition as a Leading Hotel of the World. The accomodation was beautiful and spacious. The food was superlative. The bread on site is to die for. The waiters at the lovely and unique pool area were polite and attentive. The front desk was helpful and went out of their way to assist. The fitness centre was one of the most modern and well-equipped gym I have been to while travelling abroad. Finally, my massage was excellent. We highly recommend this Fasano resort! This hotel is located in the 1,200 acre property of Las Piedras, a gate guarded community just outside of Punta del Este. This vast master-planned community offers every amenity you could possibly want: miles of walking and biking trails; a helipad, a private airstrip. a golf course, 4 tennis courts, stables, an indoor and outdoor arena; 3 restaurants; a private beach club, shooting range, polo field and spa. The hotel is small and there are bungalows for rent, as well as private bungalows and homes, all in a sleek architectural style that disappear into the undulating terrain. The staff at the hotel was very professional and courteous. And, the food was delicious. This is a very special place that is relaxing or as active as you want.
