Nestled between The Remarkables, the cerulean stillness of Lake Wakatipu, and a wild expanse of New Zealand bush, Azur is a remote hillside retreat that's only a five-minute drive from town. The stone and silver beech villas prove there is nothing more beautiful than nature itself: Glass walls and wraparound decks beckon panoramic views, while thoughtful touches like in-room aromatherapy burners stocked with essential oils invite a deeper sense of grounding. Before you decide to make that plush bathrobe permanent, remember this: Queenstown is a gateway to the kind of skiing, rafting, hiking and adrenaline activities that tops bucket lists.

I am about to check out and I’m profoundly sad. If I could choose heaven, I’d pick this. The villa is beautiful, and the views are spectacular, rain or shine. We came in late from Milford Sound on a cold, rainy, night, and were welcomed in the villa by a roaring fire in the fireplace. Weather cleared after that, so I sat in the terrace just staring at the view. At night, the stars are incredible. Breakfast was truly delicious, a small continental spread with a cooked to order menu (see waffles below). Grounds are gorgeous. Staff is so so great, they try (and mostly succeed) to anticipate your needs before you ask. Best stay in NZ, too 5 of my life.

Wonderful hotel; best we stayed at in NZ and capped our travel throughout NZ. Views were drop dead gorgeous, room was wonderful, and service was great. It is quite small, so don't look for lively activities on site. But staff is very friendly, and they went out of their way to accommodate our needs and requests.

Azur exceeded all our expectations. The rooms were incredibly comfortable and the views were spectacular. The staff was great, each one kind and friendly. The food at breakfast and the canapés in the afternoon were the best food we ate in Queenstown.

Azur Luxury Lodge was a fantastic place to stay in Queenstown. The views were absolutely stunning, with floor-to-ceiling windows that made it feel like you were immersed in the landscape. The rooms were spacious and beautifully designed, with a cozy yet modern feel. What really stood out was the exceptional service. The staff was warm, attentive, and always a step ahead in anticipating needs. One of the best perks was being able to order from local restaurants, have the lodge take delivery, reheat the meal if needed, and serve it in the room—a great way to enjoy Queenstown’s dining scene while relaxing in the villa. Overall, a perfect mix of privacy, comfort, and five-star service. Would absolutely stay here again.

Clearly, this is a beautiful property with great views and spacious rooms. But when you add on top of that how helpful and accommodating the staff was, that put our stay at a whole other level. And the breakfasts were fantastic. This was a splurge stay for us, but one that we'd happily repeat if we had the opportunity.

Azur was in a stunning location, charming development, lots of privacy, and fantastic gracious hospitality made this a truly great stay. Sweeping views over the beautiful Lake Wakitipu are enhanced by a lovely garden with exotic trees and carefully tended shrubs and flowers. We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the careful attention to detail and every possible creature comfort. And soaking in the deep, deep bath looking over the lake was a treat!

For me, what makes a hotel tip-top is always the service. This lodge is not only spectacularly located with first class appointments and incredible views, but the team of people that work there make your visit a complete joy. Nothing is too much trouble. Everyone on the team is first class and the inclusions at Azur are tremendous. I would return in the blink of an eye, and recommend this experience to everyone!
