Spent nearly a week at this hotel. Everything from the location to the cleanliness of the common areas and room to personable staff to fixing a small issue in a bathroom super quickly was great. 😊

Good location and views. New hotel, rooms modern and mostly comfortable but don’t expect a chair/desk for working and the air conditioning doesn’t really cool the room at night. Corridors and elevator areas very dark at all times, anyone with a visual impairment would find it difficult. Main issue is the reception staff - rigid and inflexible. Some kind of hierarchy means that you have to speak to a number of people to get an answer at reception. Checked me into an already occupied room to the irritation of the occupants who said this was the second time it had happened. Really not service oriented by the standards than would be expected for a hotel this expensive, very transactional. Bar staff - pleasant but not exactly in a hurry to serve you.

We had a brilliant 4 nights in the Edition in Reykjavik, there was always a friendly face greeting us coming in at the door which made us feel so welcome. The room was spacious and warm with under floor heating in the bathroom. The GHD hair dryer was a really nice touch. Plenty of toiletries and towels ect, robes were amazing! We were always greeted by the lovely lady in the spa. The spa has a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna which were really well kept and really nice after a long day of exploring beautiful Iceland in the cold. The true star of the show was Themas in the restaurant bar. He was very kind, patient and helpful. We had great chats with him when we were there in the evenings. He gave us many recommendations and he was a really kind and genuine person. We had brilliant evenings here! Another shining star was Radek who also looked after us really well. He was so kind and genuine, giving us many recommendations and having great conversations! Overall the staff in the hotel definitely went above and beyond to meet our needs, and everyone was so kind! They truly are an asset to the hotel! The rooftop bar was amazing we even managed to see the northern lights from the top! They also provided many free snacks lol nuts and popcorn which I thought was a really nice touch. The popcorn is delicious, definitely ask for some! There was great buzz here and great views! The hotel is centrally located near bus stop #5. This made it really easy to get around. We had a brilliant stay and hope to come back soon in the future! However, unfortunately we were left with a sour taste when we did not receive our full deposit back due to *city tax* which was not specified to us in the beginning. The way it was explained to us was that we had already paid this in advance, and that we received credit to spend in the hotel each night as they *care about their guests*. We were not told that this was a different charge and would not be refunded. We were explicitly told the full amount would be refunded back after our stay (minus whatever charges). I know this because I was really confused and clarified this many times. Honestly this has really dampened the experience as it was not properly explained. I would recommend to anyone to call the hotel and confirm any extra charges before booking, so you are not blindsided the same way we have been, as we feel like we’ve been swindled. It really did feel like the hotel was trying to up-charge everything. Other than this, we really enjoyed our stay! However, these charges were very expensive on top of the high amount we already paid to stay in the hotel. I would recommend this hotel but I would urge anyone to check all charges asking explicitly the final cost of the room per night excluding the *care about their guest* gratuity. Other than this, we had a brilliant trip in Iceland!

Lovely hotel with nice lobby, good take and go cafe/coffee, great bar, and very comfortable rooms. Lovely people working! Perfect location for site seeing, restaurants, shopping and catching a tour. New Year’s Eve from the rooftop was incredible!

We visited Iceland for the first time in November. We took advantage of a two night stop over on Icelandair and selected the Reykjavík EDITION because we’re big Bonvoy users. It’s always awkward to arrive at any hotel eight hours before the typical check-in time, but due to our flight arriving in the 6 AM hour, we had nothing else to do but present ourselves at the hotel. It made for a charming morning. We were able to introduce ourselves to the front desk person at about 7 AM, leave our bags with the bellman, and then go and explore the capital city hours before any other creature would stir. We returned to the hotel at about 11 o’clock in the morning, now feeling the effects of a very long day of traveling. The lobby was bustling. And even though we were still about 90 minutes from a room being available, we had the most genuine greeting by a manager of the hotel named Samantha. She keenly noticed that we were weary, and she kindly introduced herself to us and asked us about our journey. She invited us into the restaurant (TIDES), where we enjoyed a fantastic full breakfast. Everyone in the restaurant was polite and welcoming. We had quick fun conversations with the cooks behind the buffet line. Everyone really seemed happy. The breakfast presentation was impeccable. All your favorites with a few local twists. The coffee service was top-notch. Just in time for an afternoon nap, we were given keys to our room overlooking the courtyard and the Harpa. The room was extremely comfortable. The lighting was elegant. The bathroom (with heated floors) was fully appointed. We fell in love with the smell of the bar soap and subsequently ordered a stock of it on marriott.com for our use at home. Sadly, we did not have time enough at the hotel to enjoy the spa or fitness services. We did, however, enjoy an evening in the secret speakeasy off the lobby. Our bartender was a very engaging young gentleman from Italy. He had nothing but great things to say about the way the hotel management treats him and the employees. We took advantage of the hotel’s personnel before arrival when we got advice regarding bookings for a Northern Lights tour as well as a day trip out to the Sky Lagoon. About 48 hours after checking out and flying out of Iceland, I received a notification from the rental car company at the Reykjavík airport that they had charged my credit card about $230 USD for two parking tickets that our car incurred while inside the city. After some analysis, I realized that the timestamp of each of the two citations coincided with the exact times we took our rental car out of the EDITION’s valet parking. I want to commend the hotel staff for stepping up immediately and communicating to the City of Reykjavík on my behalf that the citations were the result of a faulty computer system at the valet parking area. Within a day, the rental car company credited me back for the erroneous charges. But that brings up one more point to anyone traveling to Reykjavík for the first time with a rental car: You MUST follow the parking protocol. Pay for your parking spot in Reykjavik or the fines will shock you!
