We’re true fans of EDITION hotels. EDITION Reykjavik was the third one we’ve stayed at, and I honestly find it one of the best hotels ever. The staff are endlessly friendly, the service is fantastic, and both breakfast and dinner are always top-level. We love Iceland, and staying in such a great hotel literally transformed our vacation into a magical time 🫶🏼 We’d like to thank all the staff for being so incredible ❤️☺️

The Reykjavík EDITION presents itself as a 5-star luxury hotel, but our experience didn’t live up to that expectation. There are positives. The lobby is lively and welcoming, the spa is relaxing and tastefully designed, and most of the staff we encountered were pleasant and polite. Unfortunately, those elements didn’t make up for a stay that overall felt thin, transactional, and surprisingly ungenerous. The rooms are extremely dark, which in Reykjavík’s winter light feels more dingy than atmospheric, and many rooms look directly into other guest rooms, offering very little privacy. Housekeeping was inconsistent: toilet paper wasn’t replenished, there was no toilet brush, and small basics you’d expect to be taken care of in a hotel of this level were simply missed. We noted a special occasion on our booking, yet there was no acknowledgement at all, which is something we would normally expect as standard in a genuinely high-end hotel. The resort credit was awkward to use and clearly designed to encourage additional spending rather than feel like a genuine benefit. There is no complimentary water, not even refillable bottles, which is hard to justify in a hotel claiming 5-star standards. Everything feels chargeable. The checkout experience summed up the tone of the stay. At 11:01, someone knocked on our door to remind us that checkout was at 11. When we checked out, no one asked how our stay had been. That lack of discretion or basic courtesy was disappointing. Overall, this hotel seems far more focused on image, branding, and revenue than on warmth, generosity, or intuitive service. It may suit guests who prioritise design and atmosphere, but those who appreciate true luxury hospitality - where ease, thoughtfulness, and generosity are part of the experience, will likely find it falls short. This is my first stay in an Edition property and will be my last.

We stayed here in December and absolutely loved it. The design is modern and clean with a beautiful Nordic feel. The bathroom was my favorite part of the room stylish and very well done. We booked a family room, which comfortably fit all five of us. The beds were comfortable, the layout worked well, and the blackout blinds were excellent. The staff was wonderful, especially the valet and restaurant teams. The manager, originally from Serbia, was incredibly kind and welcoming and made us feel well taken care of. We’ve also stayed at The Retreat Hotel, and while that’s an amazing experience, this hotel offers a nice balance of luxury while still being kid-friendly. If you’re traveling with children but still want a touch of luxury, this is a great choice. Cons : if you're ordering special surprise, please just double check with them ... I was a little disappointed when we walked in the room and my daughters bithday cake was not there . When we asked they did deliver but forgot the specialization. Otherwise , I would still highly recommend and would stay again.

We stay 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel from the excellent location away from the center but close enough. The food at the bar was very good and the spa was a welcome respite from the chilly weather. Like most hotels the lights in the bathroom are a bit too dim.

I think the problem with trying to be a five-star hotel in a place without any five-star competitors is that there is no source for comparison. The EDITION, while having all of the style and flash, ultimately falls short of its five-star goal. Don’t get me wrong, the EDITION team is friendly, nice, and accommodating, but during our stay there were missing elements - dots that didn’t get connected. I had to remind people about removing charges that were supposed to have been removed, I was misinformed about breakfast pricing, and we did not get the Northern Lights wake-up call that we requested (luckily we woke ourselves up). At five-star hotels, these elements don’t get missed. Some of the other five-star finer points were also missing. When you walk into a Four Seasons after being out for the day, you are greeted by name and often with a question about what activities you did that day. That unfortunately did not happen at the EDITION. Additionally, and on a significantly smaller note, if I’m paying $1500 per night for a room, I don’t want the valet calling me “boss.” As for the hotel itself, it’s very sleek and very, very dark. Dark wood, dark ceilings, dim lighting. That probably appeals to certain travelers, but it was a miss for me. You should also know that Iceland is expensive, almost offensively so, so be prepared to spend a lot of money. It’s a beautiful country and Reykjavík is a gorgeous city, but my goodness is it pricey.
