Reviews for Miramar Hotel by Windsor

Good location and friendly staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed three nights. What was good? The location so close to the beach; the friendly and helpful staff, the AC worked well, comfy bed and fairly quiet room, nice roof terrace with pool, complementary beach chairs and towels. Good set of toiletries in the bathroom. The hotel felt safe. The hotel is a little dated, I also would have liked to get at least 2 pods of coffee to the coffee maker for free; now you have to pay for each of them. The quality of the roof top bar was so so—did not know how to make a pisco sour.

Disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I had concerns before staying at this hotel as some of the reviews were not favourable but I listened to my travel agent. Never again! Location is right on Copacabana beach which is clearly what you pay for but for $450 AUD a night it is not worth it. We arrived in the early hours of the morning and when we got to our room we were extremely disappointed. The room was old and tired and not overly clean, I had to ask the front desk staff the next day to send up house cleaning to clean the room and clean up all the hair that was on the chair at the desk. Some staff are really quite friendly and helpful but what lets them down is the unfriendly girl at the counter for breakfast and some of the staff in the restaurant who can barely smile or say good morning. When we went to the pool my husband was ignored when he was waiting at the bar but eventually someone did come up and serve us. Then to find out today we will be charged for 2 coffee pods in our room has just really done it for us. Never ever have we been charged for coffee in our room in a supposedly 4.5 star hotel. If you like old, large chain hotels then the Miramar is for you. If your after 4.5 stars and some luxury don’t stay here.

Great location and stunning views across Copacabana towards sugar loaf

Lovely hotel in a lovely location and a few restaurants near by. We travelled as a couple along with a friend. As a couple we were given a rather small room next to the lift shaft and in night you could here the lift going up and down. We had to take it in turn to move around the room. I therefore had to go to reception at 11.30pm to complain. In fairness we were moved to a better room there and then (avoid any rooms next to the lift). The facilities are lovely, nice having access to the beach with chairs and an umbrella. You can catch the hop on and hop off bus just down the road, but check with reception as it doesn't run everyday, but it is well worth doing. It is also worth getting a taxi at night to Ipanema as there are lots of lovely restaurants. Lovely breakfast with a great choice, staff very helpful and efficient. If we are going to either Sugar Loaf or Christ the Redeemer - then go as soon as possible as the clouds come over quickly

The BEST hotel service !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I stayed there 2 years ago and had one of the best hotel services . I am from the industry and know what I want , and it was jaw dropping the quality of service , staff training and ability to anticipate guests needs . I then decided to return , and this time with 30 extremely high profile guests. Unfortunately the experience with sales & reservations was extremely poor and I would give them zero stars. Slow response , poor quality of service , lack of attention and flexibility. I had to beg to have a call with someone. Plus quote me group rates higher than the transient rates and worse cancellation policy so we had to book part of our group online . It was very frustrating but I knew the hotel Ops team on the ground would be awesome so we went through it . And it was even better than expected : more than perfect! Rafael delivered what he promised and together with a hotel team of super stars we had a smooth , pleasant , top quality stay . From an amazing 10min group check in from Rafael , Dani , Thiago and their team of 30 guests ; Mateus sorting us last minute request for vans ; reception & housekeeping sorting request of dozens of towels for a boat trip , Angelica cleaning my room at perfect standards, “J” helping us labelling all luggage items on check out , the night team always smiling , Fabiano and his brilliant breakfast team , nothing was too much for the Miramar dream team who was always a step ahead and always ready to help with a big smile . Upon check out , gorgeous Dani, realised I was rushing so she bagged some breakfast snacks , a juice and had ready for my journey . Wow , just wow ! Thank you everyone in operations at Miramar for making my life easy with this group and for an unforgettable stay! Abraços , and see you soon ! Grazi

Great location and service

Food: 10/10 (Breakfast) Only had breakfast at the hotel but the trick is to come early enough not to wait in line as the hotel is BUSY. That said, food was fantastic. Bottomless Prosecco. Service: 10/10 I’ve never seen such a busy hotel get things done so fast and efficiently. They also have English speakers assigned so you’re good. They help with taxis. When we first checked in, the room smelled of heavy cigarette smoke and they did not do that silly dance around of "maybe we’ll move you tomorrow, if there’s space" that most hotels do. Laundry, room service, everything was so good 💚 Room: 7/10 The rooms are quite old, small and bathroom dated. Y’all can do better, Location: 10/10 Right by the beach 💙 Pool/beach: 6/10 Don’t be deceived by the picture of the pool, it’s so tiny. And when they say they have a "beach club", they just give you a towel and chair and send you off your merry way 😮‍💨
