We just wrapped our annual two-week stay at the elegant and lovely Westin Excelsior. We cannot say enough about this always excellent Grand Hotel. As usual, the service was first rate: the staff are impeccable, offering a warm welcome and exquisite service; the rooms are extremely clean, bright, and airy; and the beautiful and classic foyer, lounge, and bar offer an elegant ambiance, with live music most evenings. The staff at the bar are amazing, with super cocktails. Staying at the Excelsior is always a great treat, and the location can’t be beat. The hotel is within walking distance of the beautiful Borghese Park, the Spanish Steps (and serious shopping), the Piazza del Popolo, and the Via del Corso and into the historic city. In addition, the metro station Barberini is 2 minutes away by foot, and the Termini rail station only 10 minutes. There's a taxi rank just outside the Excelsior, and because the hotel is on Via Veneto, returning by taxi is simple.

westin excelsior rome did not meet standards of other westin hotels. room was dark, poorly lit. safe in room malfunctioned twice. last day of our stay there was no hot water. staff was not very helpful. example I asked concierge for help booking train tickets to florence. he said I had to go to business center in hotel and book myself on their computer., not the answer for an 81 year old non tech-savvy guest

Quite simply, this is at best a 4 star hotel (more likely a 3 star hotel). Old, worn out, rooms are cold, fan is very noisy, windows are not properly sealed. The breakfast is similar to the breakfast you would have at a gas station. Artificial juices, plastic bag bread and eggs from yesterday. The wifi was not working in the common areas. Music at the bar was like being in a food festival. And had (myself and various other guests) a cold water shower in the morning. Finally, experience with the service was very poor. "You cannot sit there, because it's reserved". "You cannot move that chair". "You cannot use that table".

My wife and I recently stayed at this beautiful hotel for an extended weekend. The entire staff was very friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. (Bellmen, Reception, Concierge, Housekeeping, Host/Hostess, Waitstaff). The hotel has old world charm and is in a great location close to a number of tourist attractions, great restaurants, and great shopping. Their in-house restaurant The Doney has excellent food and outstanding service. We highly recommend the Westin Excelsior!!

The Westin Excelsior Rome exceeded our expectations. The location on Via Veneto is perfect for exploring the city and the service was top-notch. We are a family of 5 and stayed in connecting rooms that were incredibly spacious and comfortable. We were celebrating our anniversary, and the hotel surprised us with delicious sweets – a very thoughtful touch! Highly recommend this hotel for a luxurious and memorable stay in Rome!
