First Class In Every Way

This is a life time experience. A bucket list. Something great for a couple but we took teenagers who were equally in awe. Gorillas Nest is six star in service, thought, attention to detail. Tim who is GM and Zane, second in command, have the place operating like a well oiled machine. The accommodation is perfect, stilted villas with spacious living area and balcony views, everything is thought out down to the Nespresso machine and wide screen television if you want it. The Nest sleeps 45-50 max. Even when full it doesn’t appear so. The spa has great treatments and excellent masseuse. A good gym and pool. The hotel sits in 85 acres. Electric bikes are provided to zoom around on, or you can call for a buggy or walk. Delicious food and menus, nothing too much trouble to prepare. Staff are all charming. A credit to the hotel. … and the trekking and gorillas. Well breathtaking and I suggest two things if you can, obviously budget dependant: Book treks for two days. You’ll be with a different family of gorillas each day, and we were in different terrain and vegetation on each. If you can, book a private trek, it was very special to do this as a family of four on our own. I can’t say but groups are otherwise a max of eight visitors but you never know who you might end up with standing in your camera view or waking at a different pace. And do ask your company what to tip your trackers, porters and guide. They depend on you in part and so does the local economy, not to mention the gorillas.

Outstanding

Six of us at the end of a two week trip to Africa spent three nights and went on two gorilla treks. Difficult to put in words how beautiful the resort is and how perfect they make the experience. Staff were attentive, helpful and provided an outstanding resort experience in every aspect. We stayed in Forest Tree Houses. They are spacious, well appointed and very secluded. The dining experience was exceptional. The trekking service in terms of preparing you to go and welcoming you back is outstanding. They have thought of every way to help you make the experience as memorable as possible. We could not recommend more highly.

Magic Beyond the Gorillas

After two weeks on safari, to arrive at the One and Only was a such a special experience that was the perfect ending to a celebration trip. The attention at this property is beyond anything else that we have experienced. Your entire stay in curated and you receive a personalized itinerary each day. Of course, gorilla trekking is the primary reason you visit the Gorilla's Nest. But, I would come just to stay at this property! The people were amazing!! Barbara was one of the best experience managers that I have ever met and is honestly one of the kindest people on the planet. She made each day of our stay magical and the small touches like having hot water bottles in our buggy after dinner were so appreciated. We had our meals in different locations each days, loved Jack Hannah's cabin where Yves took such great care of us and the Chef's Garden was beautiful with the best crispy chicken we have ever tasted. There is a temptation table in the lobby where you can grab yummies every day, gigantic cookies and crispies that our delicious. Patrick can guide you through an entertaining coffee tasting, his knowledge and enthusiasm are unparalleled! The comfort level is off the charts here. The rooms are beautifully appointed with a SMEG coffee maker and a well stocked beverage bar. The bathrooms floor are heated and you have both outdoor and indoor bathtubs and showers. We loved that all of the floors were heated throughout the bathroom area. Service is really six stars here, they always try to go above and beyond. When you return from trekking the dancers and drummers greet you and you are seated and your muddy shoes and socks are removed to be cleaned and you are given clean flip flops and warm towels to freshen up. To make your return even better, we also received 5 minute chair massages to recover from the trekking adventures. Definitely make your way to the pool, which is heated and there is also a cold plunge pool. The sauna and steam rooms were also at our disposal. Nights are started with either entertainment by dancers or with interesting talks. The bar offerings are amazing and they infuse so many interesting local gins and vodkas that are the bases for creative and tasty cocktails. We will treasure our memories of the Gorilla's Nest and all the friends we made during our stay. We have so many cute treasures that were left as gifts in our room each night that will always remind us of our magical stay.
