This review pertains to the salon at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa (a Wyndham Resort). My family and I were in town to attend my son’s wedding and stayed at the resort. I made an appointment to have my hair styled for the day of the wedding.. Upon arriving at the salon that morning I was introduced to my stylist. The event was semi formal so I wanted a simple chignon. I showed her several photos of what I wanted. She proceeded to tell me my hair was oily and needed to be washed. I explained that my hair was not oily and didn’t require a was, stressing that I didn’t have time anyway. After looking at the photos I provided she stated that my hair was too straight and it wouldn’t look good, that I needed some curls to add texture to the style. She asked that I “google a wavy hair style”. After telling her I wanted what was in the photos and that my phone didn’t have cell service, she insisted that go look at the posted WiFi password and find a wavy style. I was pressed for time and was already 15 minutes into the appointment so I acquiesced. She then proceeds to curl my hair. An hour and twenty minutes later my hair is still not styled and my entire head is full of tight curls! (Think Olivia Newton—John in the final scene of “Grease”). She then starts pulling my hair up into a high pony tail. I repeatedly told her no, that I didn’t like it and that’s not what I wanted. Finally another stylist came over, either because of my unhappy, frustrated expression or her appearing to not know what she was doing. He stated that my hair was now too curly to give me the style that I wanted but that he would do his best. I really appreciated his intervention and effort but my hair was a $130 disaster that resembled a shellacked, wad of curls being held up with over 35 bobby pins. I should also mention that throughout my entire appointment the stylist kept trying to upsell me on pricey hair clips and combs. I had to repeatedly tell her no, that I didn’t want anything in my hair. The other stylist finally had to tell her to “stop she told you she didn’t want anything.” I was so embarrassed with the style of my hair that I entertained going upstairs to my room and washing my hair but my husband pointed out that we didn’t have time. I also missed my appointment for makeup because it took so long and I ended up having to do my makeup in the car on the way to the wedding. You would think that after having your hair professionally done you would receive compliments. Unfortunately the only comments that I received about my hair were questions if I had done it myself. If you want to feel beautiful and confident for your special event it is my recommendation that you not risk using this salon. There are several highly rated salons nearby. At the end of the day I paid for a service that I did not want and did not ask for. Not to mention the high pressure, used car lot, sales tactics used to bully you into racking up a higher bill. Photo 1 is the photo I showed the stylist depicting what I wanted. Photo 2 is the hot mess I received.

we had brunch..the food was good & more than adequate..the service staff was polite & friendly..they seemed not to have a specific section assignment. we had to ask for water & wait to catch a waiter attention & the same with the coffee..the coffee was room temperature as was the lobster bisque. it was a harried atmosphere

My family and I went to the Thanksgiving brunch today at the Safety Harbor Spa. Everything was top notch, we received 5 star service from our amazing server, Toni! The food was excellent, so much to choose from, we cannot wait to come back, we were all very impressed. Everyone treated us like family which is what Thanksgiving is all about. We have raved about our experience to so many people already and will continue to do so. We cannot wait to come back and enjoy brunch again. Thank you everyone for making our Thanksgiving so special.

Gorgeous grounds, lovely pool, loved our room with huge balcony and bay views. Staff was hit or miss but mostly good experiences. There is some mildew smell in the hallway but every hotel I’ve stayed at in warm climates had this. We will be back.

It is an excellent place to weather the storms of life and take a much-needed sabbatical. A place to recover and close to downtown Tampa if needed for business.
