Not for a working stay. No internet in rooms, no phone in rooms so if you have to talk to the front desk you have to hike back there. Restaurant was closed for the season (food at the bar, breakfast $32.00), so was pool, so was hot tub. My TV did not work. But they charged me the going rate anyway with no offer to compensate. Other than that the bed and shower were great. This place is great for couples who want to get away from it all, cause you are literally at the end of the road and have to drive everywhere (rent a car). So I had to work from the bar or the small nook they have for teleworkers in the main lobby. Not exactly the best situation.

Place is so very run down it is So horrible. Pool is closed, only have a bar and bar restaurant , buffet breakfast which was included with our stay and ok. Beach is nice! No WiFi except at bar or lobby, no TV , no cable. We made the best of it, and enjoyed our stay. Witnessed a female bar server drinking from a cocktail then served it to a patron!! Absolutely do not recommend this place. We went to a market and purchase wine, alcohol and mixers and a few Food items room has a refrigerator and microwave. Our room was floor daily covered with dead termites.

One of my worst Marriott hotel experiences ever. Pool being renovated but needed to go three pages into Marriott Bonvoy app before you could see that. WiFi in room didn’t work. Had to go to lobby to work online late at night. Marriott Bonvoy customer service was horrible; offered a whopping 5000 Bonvoy points for this crappy experience. I guess that it is time to go back to Hilton and Hyatt hotels.

What a disaster!! We booked this for our 20th anniversary trip off of Marriott website. We had planned to go back to St Thomas where we honeymooned but were lured away from the Frenchman’s Reef to this dump by the gorgeous photos on the website. After arriving it might be that those photos were taken while we were on our honeymoon 20 years ago. Checking in we were informed there was no cable and the restaurant was not serving dinner that MONTH!! The property was not as pictured. Rundown and dilapidated. There were 2 inches of water standing in front of our room. The TheAC was not functioning and was dripping water on the bed and nightstand. The beach was covered in seaweed and looked up have not been manicured in months. The pool was lime green and hadn’t been cleaned in at least a month. It was a health hazard. We sat down to grab some lunch and had to fight off the cats who were the main residents of the restaurant bar and grill. The paths were hazardous and covered in dirt and debris. We called The Buccaneer from this resort to leave before we caught something. (Highly recommend The Buccaneer). I felt sorry for the kind staff who are subjected to such working conditions. We asked how this could possibly be a Marriott property and were told it is not owned by Marriott but is an affiliate. How they have not disassociated themselves from this dump is beyond me! We wasted an entire day finding another place to stay and for our troubles Marriott only gave us 20,000 points compensation. If I could give it less than 1 star I would. Oh, and their business license was also expired. What a shock.

As a Marriott Lifetime Platinum Member with over 16 years of loyalty, I’ve experienced stays at countless Marriott properties, but my recent visit to the Carambola Beach Resort in St. Croix fell short of expectations. Despite the beautiful beach location, several notable issues made this stay disappointing. Firstly, cleanliness and maintenance were glaring concerns. Our room was unclean, and had bed bugs, water bugs and even a spider beneath a barstool, leaving us very uncomfortable. Throughout the resort common areas, we noticed several spider webs and accumulated dust. I even noticed a housekeeper using a broom to “dust” lobby windows. Additionally, the gym had a foul odor with several worn equipment, including a broken treadmill. The pool was out of service, sitting empty with no signs of repair, which felt unsafe and neglected. Overall the property appeared unkept, with overfilled trash cans on the beach that went unattended , detracting from the natural beauty of the surroundings. In addition, the property was not well lit and walking thru the property felt unsafe. The resort amenities were also disappointing. The dining options were limited; while the website marketed two restaurants, there was only a bar and a breakfast restaurant. During check-in, we noticed a leak in the lobby ceiling, and the cooler with complimentary bottled water was rusted. Another huge inconvenience was the lack of WiFi for a day and a half with no cellular service and no phones in the rooms, which added challenges in communicating with the front desk when arranging for services. We also had to wait over an hour for taxis to venture off-property each time, which added frustration to our experience. On the positive side, the resort’s saving grace was its staff. The employees were warm and friendly, and tried to make us feel welcome, which was appreciated amidst the other disappointments. While I had high hopes for Carambola Beach Resort as a Marriott property, I hope these issues are addressed by Marriott HQ ASAP. For now, I would definitely not recommend it, especially for those who value a high standard of cleanliness and reliable amenities.

I purchased a package to the Carambola Beach Resort. We had the trip of a lifetime. Carambola was everything I had hoped it would be... exotically beautiful, complete with all the amenities we wished for and staffed with caring and committed people we can't wait to see again soon. Upon our return home we immediately went online and booked another Carambola Beach Resort in 2005.

My wife and I returned from our trip to The Carambola Resort on St. Croix about two weeks ago, and we haven't stopped dreaming of it since. The property was terrific, the food was excellent, and the hotel employees were gracious and helpful. Our room was right on the beach... the surf lulled us to sleep each evening and gently woke us in the morning. A wonderful getaway...
