Imagine lounging on your own private deck, overlooking the spectacular seascape that only the Caribbean can provide, nibbling on papaya and pineapple skewers. That is the experience at Maca Bana. Located in the southern part of Grenada's enchanting Saint George parish, this exceptional boutique resort rests on two hillside acres with just a handful of villas, limiting the guest capacity. Each villa is unique with single or multiple bedrooms boasting spacious surroundings and gourmet kitchens, with French doors that slide to either side revealing expansive hardwood decks with bamboo privacy screens, covered dining areas and loungers for relaxing. A serene outdoor whirlpool can also be found on the main sun deck, and is an incredible place to luxuriate after dark.

First, Joanne, the manager, a couple months prior was very helpful with resolving an issue we had with Expedia, and then finding us a deal with a local rental car company. In addition, she was very pleasant to deal with upon check-in. We had one of the two one-bedroom villas at the resort. It was on a cliff overlooking Magazine Beach, and we could see up the east coast of Grenada to St. George's (where you could see the cruise ship that docked each day). Low 80s when we went in February, but a constant breeze outside our room. More ideal weather on the deck outside the villa could not be imagined. Not sure if the larger villas behind us had the same breeze. We had a bedroom, a large kitchen, and a large bathroom in our villa--perfect for the two of us. There was the outside deck as well as a more secluded patio as well as a hot tub. They stock your fridge with some staples--milk, bread, eggs, OJ, ice, coffee, etc--which will hold you over for the week or until you get some additional items at the spice market or supermarket. Grounds are nice and parking is convenient. You walk down through the resort, and through the affiliated Aquarium Restaurant to get to the beach. Not many people at this south end of Magazine Beach, so there is little competing for loungers. The resort will give you snorkels and fins. I'm not a big snorkeler, but you could see lots of fish close to the shore. Others were snorkeling further out. It is a steep incline from the beach back to the resort--not an issue with us--but only mentioning it for people with mobility issues. It is ridiculously near the airport, about a one-minute drive. But the flights are so infrequent that noise from the airplanes is not an issue. (Take offs from some of the smaller planes is drowned out from the sound of the ocean waves.) We encountered no mosquitos or bugs; maybe that's more an issue in the rainy season? We understand the owner of Maca Bana lives on the premises; he also owns the Aquarium Restaurant that adjoins. The menu is of the "international" resort kind--we generally want to explore an island for local cuisine, since that's our taste. Though, we did eat there the first and last night and enjoyed both meals. (The owner even bought us a round of drinks the last night, knowing we were staying there. Staying at Maca Bana seems to get you preference in getting booked at the Aquarium even if they are supposedly filled up.) The restaurant does have wonderful ambience, being right at the beach, and it seems to be popular with locals for birthdays and date-nights. We also had cocktails there in late afternoon, and after-dinner, different venues, but both wonderful, even if you don't eat there. I don't understand any complaints about the service. We had nothing but friendly, attentive service at Aquarium. (The only thing we noticed throughout all of Grenada, you have to ask for your check. Otherwise, we surmised, they assume you want to stay indefinately.)

It's in a good location and the staff were helpful enough, but our room was quite tired and very much in need of a refresh. The hifi only played CDs! The restaurant is good and the beach is lovely too. We also stayed at Mount Cinnamon which was about the same price but which was more to our liking.

Well what an absolutely delightful villa. We stayed at the very top with panoramic views across the bay. It was complete privacy and beyond stunning. The room had everything you could need to be self sufficient and they stock the fridge with breakfast goodies. Eggs, bacon, bread, butter, yoghurts, cereal, fruit, orange juice and tea/coffee. We had a hot tub overlooking the bay. See pictures. And there is also a lovely pool also overlooking the bay, which we had almost exclusive use of. They also have a same day laundry service and the clothes smelt divine after ☺️. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Close to other bars and restaurants and above Aquarium bar and restaurant which was exquisite. Probably at the higher end in terms of price and venue, but they do great food and cocktails and an infamous BBQ on Sunday with live music which a colleague in London recommended me. We loved it. Such a wonderful gem of a place ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and another ⭐️

So this wasn't our first choice accommadation. After a mix-up with our original reservation we ended up here. However, we have no regrets. Our decision to stay more than a night was mainly based on meeting Joanna and the personal customer service she gave. Nothing was too much to make us comfortable. Our daughter had a reaction to mosquito bites and extra effort was made to fogg around the villa. Even giving us Bopp insecticide so we could spray inside. The villa itself was spotless and roomy. Fridge stocked with enough for a few days so we didn't have to go to the supermarket. I am pleased we did not try to go to anywhere else for our holiday. The only thing to be aware of is the hill down to the restaurant, even harder to climb up. Just something to be mindful of.

We live in the Caribbean so pretty picky, but we chose here for our anniversary. View from our suite was amazing, we loved having cooking facilities for breakfast although the restaurant Aquarium was excellent. Small but very well equipped kitchen. Hotel was very accommodating with providing foods for first morning, adapting to our allergies/preferences. Wen we had an issue with mosquitos (had rained a lot just before we arrived) they quickly sprayed the area and provided us with interior bug repellent device. If you sty on the hill, be prepared for a good leg workout on the way back to your room from the restaurant/ beach bar!
