Reviews for Blue Waters Resort & Spa

Excellent! Trip EXCEEDED Expectations. Our favorite Anniversary trip yet!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This resort is INCREDIBLE! I largely booked this resort based off the helpful reviews here so wanted to come back and share the experience. This was our first time in Antigua and needless to say we will be back to both Antigua and the Blue Waters Resort. The main highlight for us was the overall "vibe" and "feel" of Blue Waters. It's not cheesy or party atmosphere. You can tell it isn't part of some big corporate chain, it feels family owned and operated in the absolute best way. It's quiet, the entertainment is classy and no one is pushing you to do unnecessary spa treatments or drink over sugared drinks. This resort is truly about enjoying the beautiful scenery, good food, and great amenities. From booking I had an amazing experience over the phone with the staff, they were very accommodating, friendly, and full of helpful information. The room we received was great when we arrived but my wife really wanted one on the second floor for privacy, she politely asked if any were available expecting them to say "no" but figured we would ask. Instead we were kindly and quickly moved to a new second floor room and ensured it was no trouble at all. Throughout our stay the front desk and hotel management were fantastic, our room was almost always cleaned in the morning while we were at breakfast and reservations were easy to make for dinner. Amenities: Gym and fitness was great. Multiple cardio machines, great weight selection, tennis court. I also went on several runs off property and while very hilly it was fun to explore a bit. The gift shop was cute with everything you need and some pretty great clothes also. Water Sports were excellent. Hobie cats, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. Plenty of great options there and easy to access. Food: The highlight for us without a doubt. We are foodie types that love to eat fresh and healthy. Our "worst" meal at Blue Waters would probably have been our best at other resorts we have been too. The lunch at the Reef is excellent, the fish wrap and burgers are an absolute must. The breakfast burritos and smoothies at breakfast were a highlight every day. Then you had dinner. We had two meals at the Cove which is more of an experience. Great service and the two meals there are ones I will remember for a long time. Excellent seafood and fresh catch, great dessert. Plus you can watch tarpon and sting rays hunt from the balcony. Overall everything was fresh with healthy options and a focus on balanced flavor. Drinks were creative and well made too. We often find all inclusive cocktails to be overly sweet and poorly made but the Blue Waters staff are pros. The Kingfisher and Missionary's Downfall were our favorites with some killer daiquiris and a special house Espresso Martini. Rooms: The rooms are cozy, comfy, and have plenty of space. Each room has a smart TV and a balcony to relax. The AC worked beautifully. We really enjoyed our room especially after spending all day in the sun. Beach and pools were terrific. Crystal clear water in the morning time and great access to pool floats, etc. Three pool options so it never felt crowded. Finally and probably our favorite thing was the staff. They were so friendly and kind. They remembered our name and room number. They were attentive but not overly so. Just all around top notch and really made our trip. I want to shout out a few folks. Christopher and Matthew up front are terrific. Daniel and Ryan were fantastic bar tenders throughout the week. In the restaurants we had a great experience with Javiere, Keva, Sheddy, and Carrez. PLUS all the great cleaning and landscape staff behind the scenes. While a family resort, there were no kids there during our stay likely due to school being in session. With that said the possibility of bringing our kids the in future with access to a kids club and accommodations for families mean we plan to make this a family trip in the future too. We loved it as a couple but excited to let our family share in the experience at some point.

A little slice of heaven!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

End of August 2023 We stayed here end of August myself my mom and my two children age 11 and 4. We used to stay at St James club 8 years running, but it went down hill, very fast. After doing months of research into different hotels, Blue Waters looked the one, and boy was we right! We stayed all inclusive in the Cove Suites block 4, room 4G. The room was huge, very clean and fresh, everything we needed was there. The kids had 2 pull out beds which was really comfortable. Fully stocked mini bar with a pad to request more each morning. Coffee machine with pods, toiletries, fresh towels, iron & ironing board. Our room was cleaned each day and even turn down service while we was at dinner. Upon arrival we was given our own water bottles with our names on, fresh water filling stations are dotted around, and even in the entrance to our Cove suite. Breakfast was very nice, you can order hot food from the menu, and go up to the buffet for pancakes, cereals, pastries, waffles, fresh fruit, salmon, cheeses, so much choice for everyone. Lunch we would eat at the grill by the pool, each day they had a special dish, highly recommend the shrimp flatbread and the salads! We was given a wet cold towel as we was seated to cool us down, little touches throughout was nice. On-site shop we would get crisps and nibbles for the beach, kids would have an ice cream from there to. We never used the kids club so can’t comment on that, we would be in the sea and pool all day. The grounds was stunning, beautiful colour flowers and bushes everywhere you looked, always someone cleaning and maintaining the place. The sea was simply perfect, clear blue Caribbean Sea (which doesn’t need a filter when taking photos!) soft calm waves on the white soft sand. There is a main beach and 2 little cove beaches, we would go on the cove beach next to the pool, we felt like we was on our own island. The staff here makes the hotel, St James Club the staff was 90% moody and rude, we felt like we was in the way asking for drinks, and sometimes it was that bad we just didn’t bother going to the bar at all, not something that should happen at any hotel. Blue Waters is another level of service, everyone is happy, kind, made us feel relaxed and comfortable. At dinner time Millie and Charlie would rush of in front of me and my mom to get there before us, by the 2nd night the staff knew their names which was really nice, Charlie would ask for “our” table, which was on the edge that looks over the beautiful sea. Charlie struggled with jet lag a little and would be falling asleep at 6:30pm at dinner, they plated his dinner up for him so he could eat it in the room, again, little touches. Food was always hot, very tasty and good menus each night. We got a buggy back each night from our meal as it was hot and we was heavy from our food! The cocktails around the pool was spot on, not watered down or from a can/carton, staff would come around with fruit kebabs in the day by the pool which the kids loved. Our last day we found out room service was all inclusive but with a $18/$20 tray charge which was great, we ordered breakfast while packing. Didn’t have to wait long and everything was hot and fresh. Only downside about this hotel is one week isn’t enough! If you’re thinking of booking this hotel, just do it, you won’t be disappointed! We loved it that much we have booked to come back October 23rd 2024 and requested the same room. We can now say we have found our “holiday home” Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday and we shall see you very soon! Hats off to everyone at Blue Waters Hotel! Michelle Birmingham, England

A genuine slice of paradise in the Caribbean

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

It is rare to find a slice of paradise in the Caribbean that is authentic rather than confected by a design studio in London or New York. Blue Waters is just that, an authentic family-run luxury hotel with staff who love their jobs, in a stunning setting with superb facilities. You can feel the attention and care that has gone into making the resort such a fantastic destination over many years, coupled with $ millions in recent investment to take it to another level. We stayed in a Cove penthouse, bright and spacious with glorious views, enjoyed four pools at the resort in turn, and for meals alternated between the sophisticated Cove restaurant, funky poolside The Reef and joyous barbecues at The Palm. We swam around the headland to a secret beach, made the most of the watersports on offer and had an unforgettable snorkelling trip out to a sunken wreck followed by a champagne sunset in Blue Waters’ sleek new speedboat skippered by the amazing Owen. We were so impressed with all the staff, and learned during conversations that the owners always look to see the passion in an individual then develop it with their interests to move them forward. It’s a great recipe for success. Altogether, a fantastic two weeks!

Returned to Paradise for my Birthday

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My husband and I just returned from a truly wonderful 11 nights in Blue Waters , It is the most relaxing place we have ever visited, hence our return, the turquoise coloured sea & golden sands is breathtaking . The hotel is 5 star but if I could rate it any higher I certainly would. I cannot praise the amazing staff enough , nothing is too much trouble from the chefs, housekeepers, waiters/waitresses and front of house, but special thanks goes to Nicole for ensuring our stay was just perfect! Thank you :) The gardens are magnificent, and have taken a boat trip around the Island, I have to say BW is stunning, picture post card around every corner. We got talking to other guests and we all felt the same, so thank you BW for the most memorable 11 days , we have made some wonderful memories and we will be back !!

It's wonderful to arrive at a destination which somehow manages to capture the comfort of home and the feeling of being far away from your familiar. You are immediately in the moment when you arrive at Blue Waters. It's relaxed atmosphere, warm, accommodating staff, stunning views were a welcome to my spirit. There's plenty to do or as little as you please. Either direction will leave you with a satisfied smile on your face.

Antigua has to be my favourite of all the Caribbean islands. The beaches are picture perfect, the people are welcoming, and the water is so inviting. Plus only one word really describes the setting of Rock Cottage at Blue Waters Resort—paradise. From every direction, all you see are miles of blue sea and brilliant sky. The resort is simply a stunning spot. In fact, Antigua has to be one of the most tranquil places I've visited and I've visited a lot of places. I'm already planning my next stay.
