Brimming with authentic Austrian charm, Hotel Goldener Hirsch, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Salzburg, is a cherished symbol of exceptional hospitality and celebrated tradition. Dating back to 1407, the property embodies an enduring symbiosis between original country house and luxury boutique hotel, woven into the very fabric of Salzburg life. Steeped in history, the hotel's petite proportions understate its significance as a cultural landmark, where the crossroads of music, art and cuisine intersect. Located in the Baroque heart of the historic center, Hotel Goldener Hirsch inhabits the fairy tale setting with natural grace. In the bijoux lobby, white-washed walls and leather furniture are offset with ancient arches and historic artefacts, like the hand-carved reception desk and heirloom wooden key case. Traditionally dressed associates, wearing uniforms reminiscent of national Tracht, welcome guests with a rare warmth that resonates across generations. Six centuries of history, the much beloved Goldener Hirsch style melds harmoniously with the most modern amenities. In 70 rooms and suites carefully curated antiques such as shoemaker's benches transformed into tables combine effortlessly with the latest televisions and coffee machines by Illy. Traditional "Fleckerlteppich" rugs complement the solid wood floors as well as hand-printed fabrics in pink, cornflower blue and red from the Salzburg firm Jordis. Refreshing sleep is assured in king-size and twin beds. Generously proportioned bathrooms in marble with porcelain by Villeroy & Boch offer shower or tub, or shower and tub. The view out onto Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz or Getreidegasse enchant, while soundproof windows ensure that rooms are always quiet.

Excellent service, beds are fantastic, authentic details everywhere in the room to the food to the old school 1lb brass key. Love this place. You feel at HOME almost immediately. Everything is done to the max including a delicious breakfast!

Great location in old town. Excellent service. Good breakfast buffet. All the staff have been very friendly and helpful. Comfy bed. Lovely bathroom with heated floor (in our suite). It’s a little funky to get around, but it is a 600 year old building.

The hotel is a classic. It is located close to everything one would want to experience in Salzburg. The rooms are exquisite. Yet it is the associates, including the concierge Frau Stauffer, who make one's stay so memorable. Breakfast, under the guidance of Herr Wrobel, was delicious.

Top 5 greatest hotel stays ever. Im pretty hard to impress but this place impressed the heck out of me. This place is better than the photos on the website. When does that happen??!! The photos, which look a little hansel-and-gretyl ish, dont do justice to the in-person experience. Its all very understated gemutlichkeit and nothing opulent about the common areas. You might imagine yourself in a bavarian hunting lodge. I had a sinking feeling when they led us to our room across the street in an annex. In my experience that is usually not a good sign but our room was nothing short of fantastic. It might have been a suite, Im not sure. It had a seating area and one of the nicest bathrooms ever with good towels. The bed was the most comfortable ever of our 3 week trip with top quality bed linens - although an American will never understand the "duvet thing" in Germany and Austria (if you know, you know). Im sure this has to be the BEST location in all of Salzburg right at the very end of Getreidegasse. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night and it happened to be during a once-in-a-lifetime flooding in central europe. The next morning we were to find out that the trains were not operating due to damage to the tracks and we had no way to get to Vienna. The hotel helped us arrange a private driver which resulted in a HUGE unexpected cost, but thanks to the hotel, they saved the day. We travel often to Italy and Austria is a little out of the way for us but we loved this hotel and Salzburg so much we are going again in April after Italy and wouldnt even consider another hotel.

This hotel epitomizes understated elegance. It’s beautifully simple, with an unbeatable location right in the heart of the charming downtown area. The rooms are tastefully furnished, and the textiles are warm and inviting. While the hotel doesn’t have a large lobby and can be challenging to navigate for those with limited mobility, it’s exquisitely designed and offers exceptional service. The fresh flowers in the room were a thoughtful touch to celebrate our wedding aniversary.
