Hotel Contessa

Was told property was renovated. I’d hate to see what it looked before the renovation if this experience was post renovation. Food and service just ok. No recognition for being meeting organizer. Overall disappointed. My suggestion is to renovate beds and baths.

Excellent location. Attentive staff and service. Friday night Mariachi band was good. Francisco provides exceptional service at the Ambler. Rooms are spacious, clean and modern. Borders the Riverwalk. 7 minute walk to Alamo. CVS nearby. Worth a stay.

From time we arrived till we departed “ Fast Eddie did an outstanding job- this was our 2nd time staying and would definitely return - we eat breakfast, lunch , dinner at restaurant and Francisco was amazing- beds are new and very comfortable, rates are very reasonable for Riverwalk hotels - ( nothing like walking out door and onto riverwalk ) if you get chance - you gotta stay here !

The hotel itself is beautiful. The suites are spacious and modern but warm, with all the conveniences you'd expect, and most importantly, the beds are super comfy. The artwork throughout the hotel stands out, and I appreciate that info on the artists is provided. The staff--valet, bell staff, front desk, housekeeping, and especially the concierge--were friendly, welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. The hotel is right on the Riverwalk, close enough to all the "touristy" stuff, but also within walking or short Uber/Lyft ride distance of other, more local restaurants, shops, and attractions. I would definitely stay at Hotel Contessa again.

We selected the Hotel Contessa for it's location ON the Riverwalk, and while it is on the riverwalk, you can access it directly from the Ambler Bar and Restaurant, it is not a picturesque part of the Riverwalk. If you're going for a view, the structures viewed from the upper rooms (Especially) do not constitute much of a view. The hotel features fabulous decor throughout, beautiful textures and textiles, interesting appointments. The staff is genuinely engaged from the bellmen to valet, housekeeping to maintenance, they're all friendly and communicative. Our Ambler breakfast was a disappointment, the bacon not quite done, the toast cold and unbuttered both our meals were not hot so, rather over-priced for what we received. The biggest disappointment (shock, really) was their fee for overnight parking when the average in the area is $25-34 (we Googled it) Contessa charges $53. For overnight parking?! Really! really?
