Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa

We had a wonderful time at Tabacon resort and hot springs as well as in the town of La Fortuna. It was our first time to the area and to CR. We found everyone to be incredibly hospitable and kind. We enjoyed sky adventures zip line and hanging bridges (monkeys and toucans), touring Bogarin trail with Willliam (sloths, frogs, bats, and many other creatures), whitewater rafting with arenal rafting (guide Carlos!). We ate at soda Rodriguez (very unique and fun space) soda Viquez, and rain forest cafe. It rained everyday-but didn't spoil our fun or memories. At Tabacon, Brian was working the hot spring pool bar where we had drinks and food. He was fantastic and great to chat with. He was born and raised in La Fortuna and gave us a lot of conversation on the area. He went above and beyond in his kindness and hospitality. Yoga session one morning at the spa was also great and in a beautiful space!

Fantastic resort! We loved the hot springs! Each morning started with a great breakfast, dining at Ephemeral Table was superb, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. Topping it all off is the perfect view of Arenal Volcano. We even spotted a sloth from the window in our room!

Stayed only one night and it was worth every penny. Spent most of the time in the hot springs. Having a dedicated area for resort guests was really nice. The shuttle to/from hot springs to the resort property was quick and easy, takes literally 1 minute to get there. Our dinner at the Tucanes restaurant was one of the best meals we had during our entire trip. Recommend the mussels w/ chorizo. The included breakfast buffet in the morning was fantastic. We spend the first few days of our trip in Fortuna at an airbnb doing all the adventure type activities in the area so it was nice coming here for a day to relax before we dove out to the coast. Love that they open the hot springs up for guests at 8am. Was able to squeeze that in and breakfast before we checked out. They let you use the hot springs as long as you want after you check out as well. Entire staff is beyond friendly. Forgot a pair of shoes in the car when we checked in and they had them at our doorsteps within 5 minutes after we called.

This place was such a beautiful haven! From the moment you step in the service is amazing. Everyone is so lovely and friendly. They upgraded us to a beautiful room with a view of the jungle. The room is modern and spotless. The hot springs area is very large with many different pools. Guests of the resort have access to the shangri-la gardens which was a really nice place to have a more calm/private hot spring experience.

The atmosphere and layout of the facility is excellent. The staff was above and beyond what was expected - gave us a great preview of the Costa Rican people for the remainder of the week. The breakfast buffets were very good, however, we weren't too impressed by the dinner fare offered by both restaurants, and ended up at a soda in La Fortuna which ended up having the best food of our week in Costa Rica.
