2 night stay for business. Staff were all friendly, room decor is modern /urban. Loved the rooftop pool (small, but never crowded during my stay & hotel was near full) . As globalist was upgraded to standard suite, & enjoyed a breakfast entree & coffee at the restaurant; food was very good. 15 min walk to convention ctr; it’s not a nice area like the other Hyatt, but I never felt unsafe walking to/from conv ctr. Would stay again; I think it’s a better place for adults rather than for a family stay.

Received Guest of Honor from a friend. Got to experience upgraded room, complimentary valet and breakfast for the family. Very satisfied with the stay and experience. At check in those info wasn't clear but I was able to verify next day on the phone with guest services.

disappointed with breakfast set-up it is open air on the roof the mornings we used it we were only people there and it was windy so quite cool. The location of the hotel is not the best quite a few homeless /drug use in area not the san diego of a few years back i would stay closer to waterfront away from downtown

Good: Room was reasonably clean. Front desk staff are accommodating for minor changes in arrival/departure times. Bad: Rooms need updating. Artwork is deteriorating within the frames, paint needs touch up, showers rusting in the corners. Hotel welcomes yapping dogs. Soundproofing in the building is poor, and the Gaslamp District is loud. The problem is known, and the pre-emptive solution is earplugs in the rooms. The Gaslamp area has seen better days; you *will* smell human waste and encounter its creators if you step outside building. Hyatt really should adjust the category rating on places like this that have sadly become encircled by public toilets. The rooftop restaurant is not a good value (locals seem to know -- essentially empty during our stay). You can expect to receive a state-mandated paper straw that disintegrates halfway through your overpriced drink. Our breakfast bill had a 20% surcharge (which should only be added to parties of 6+ or unsigned checks) added by the staff as a non-negotiable tip because it was included in our room rate /status tier - so why should we care, right? Additionally, all checks at the STK rooftop have a 3% surcharge added for "minimum wage" -- as if wages are an unforeseen expense of running a restaurant. Overall: 2 out of 5: Gaslamp has lost its luster, and the hotel restaurant is an utter disappointment. If on holiday - would recommend a different destination altogether, maybe Melbourne? On business - favor the Grand Hyatt or Hotel del. As of March 2025, Hyatt rates this Andaz as a category 5 property -- it should really be a 3 or lower.

Very comfortable beds and the rooftop bar is awesome! Location is just steps from the Gas Lamp District! The pool is great. The view of San Diego from roof is fantastic. Try the Happy Hour cocktails Monday through Friday at the Rooftop Bar. Short drive to the airport.
