Set amidst Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, this 249-room luxury San Diego resort captures the elegance and comfort of an old-world Mediterranean estate with an enviable Southern California locale. Its design honors the indelible style of visionary architect Addison Mizner (1872 – 1933) who drew his inspiration from Spain’s palaces and France’s sun-washed coastal retreats.

Everyone we encountered was so warm, so welcoming, and so helpful. Seriously, the best hospitality I have ever experienced. And it felt so genuine. Highlights were Jameka so thoughtfully helping me arrange for our arrival and ensured some lovely treats awaited us in the room for my husband's birthday, Shel at the Concierge describing the renovations to the library and detailing all the Italian influence on the property, Robert who gave stellar recommendations and service at our dinner in Amaya, and Jade who was so gracious finding us an optimal spot at the pool. I love, love, loved the room, our view, and the decor - we stayed at the St Regis in Florence this summer, and the luxurious inspiration taken for the Fairmont Grand Del Mar is clear. You genuinely could be in Tuscany. The grounds are gorgeous, our dog enjoyed all our walks, his bowls, bed, and toy. We will absolutely be back. What an absolute treat. Thank you!

We've had the pleasure of staying at Grand Del Mar resort numerous times as a couple. Our most recent stay included family and was even more magnificent than we could have imagined. From Mike in valet, who remembered our service dog Nash from previous visits, exceptional service from Mattie and Ignacio at Amaya and Mia at the archery range. The Grand Social was particularly special for the kids and Spooky Tea on Sunday at treat for my aunt. I also want to commend the back of house staff we rarely or never encounter. You are the heartbeat that allows the front of house to perform at such a high and consistent level. Engineering, thank you for your quick response regarding our remote, housekeeping seemingly come and go and maintain our room to perfection. Stewards, bell service, and Royal Service operators are quick and efficient. Tip: Opt in to receive and answer text during your stay. It's the best way to communicate your needs. Visit their 5-Star Forbes Spa. You will not be disappointed!

We always have amazing experiences at Fairmont hotels, this was no exception. Absolutely stunning property. We didn’t want to leave the resort. The service is unparalleled - especially want to recognize Jay. He was not only exceptionally friendly, and helpful with being our area guide, he saved our day when we had decided to go on a short hike while carrying our 6 month old and his car seat (not out brightest idea!). Everyone else was more than accommodating and helpful with every request as well. Great gym facility! Beautiful pools

Not worth the money. You need to have a wad of money on you at all times to tip for everything. Pool chairs are all taken by 9 AM. One hour to get room service Shower smelled like sewage Bad water pressure. Decent room size. Decent views. Bunch of unsupervised kids running around at times.
