Reviews for Rancho Bernardo Inn

Unforgettable Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

I had an amazing experience at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, and a big part of that was thanks to Ben! From the moment we arrived, his exceptional customer service stood out. His willingness to assist with any request made our visit even more enjoyable. Our room was beautifully designed and spacious, with modern amenities, including a private patio. The on-site spa was perfect and the Veranda Restaurant was amazing. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you did not dine there at least once during your stay. Overall, Rancho Bernardo Inn was the best decision and we will 100% be returning.

Needs improvement but not all bad

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

The good: - Beautiful, well landscaped grounds - Perfect, mouth watering plain croissants at the 2 cafe outlets - Lovely outdoor pools and jacuzzis - Great F&B at the restaurants - Gorgeous event space - Comfy bathrobes in the rooms - Massage therapist was great The bad: - There is a huge discrepancy in the quality of the mattresses at this resort. If you get one of the bad ones, you’ll know it instantly. It felt like a thin, rock hard Motel 6 mattress. There seem to be many rooms that have good mattresses, but beware if you aren’t lucky enough to get one. I asked the front desk and they said every room has the same mattress. There is no way that is true. -I could hear everything in the room next door. Whistling, phone calls, someone taping a box. - My bed sheets were worn, pilly and threadbare. They don’t use a fitted sheet! It’s just a flat sheet draped on the mattress. Every morning I woke up to my body being on the mattress pad. I asked housekeeping and they said they don’t use fitted sheets. - Dated bathrooms - The spa is overpriced and the indoor areas are not peaceful. There is no quiet relaxation room. Instead, it’s one sitting area in a high-traffic area with people coming and going loudly talking. The indoor hot tub is in a room that looks like a cheap high school locker room and is next to the steam room - any conversations happening in the hot tub are echoed by the locker room tiles and SO LOUD in the steam room. - My phone charger broke - not their fault at all. No phone chargers are sold or kept onsite for lending. I asked multiple staff members - both young women - if they could help me find one so I could get a quick charge and they said “sorry we can’t find one.” Really? NO one has an iPhone charger anywhere? Weird.

Jay is an amazing instructor!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We had a great experience with our golf instructor Jay! She was very patient with us and talked us through tips on putting, chipping and driving. We got a wholistic view of golf and even a few tips on etiquette. It was perfect for beginners! We couldn't have asked for a better time.

A 5 star stay!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

A wonderful resort 2 hours south of LA. We played 2 rounds of golf and enjoyed dinner at both the Verandah Terrace and their fine dining room Avant. It really was superb - the staff were so welcoming, excellent facilities and delicious food. A really comfortable room overlooking the golf course - very large with a terrific deck. The golf course was in great condition, no waiting on any hole which is a massive bonus! We stayed at the resort for 2 nights to celebrate a birthday and wedding anniversary and everyone was so kind and full of congratulations. They gave us lots of extra treats which was extremely appreciated and very unexpected. I give this resort 5 stars - can't wait to go back. Thank you for making our stay so special.

Nice place but the fees are ridiculous

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. It is a nice facility out in the middle of the suburbs. It was expensive for what we got. They oddly charged $40 a night for parking when they have a huge lot that is completely under utilized. Then they charge another $40 for a resort fee. You really don’t get anything for this fee. No complementary welcome drink no breakfast nothing. Hotel does have a nice happy hour, but the restaurant is very overpriced as well.

Rancho Bernardo is one of the most enchanting inns in the U.S. The fountains are well worth the attention they command in artwork. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable beyond belief. Absolutely love this piece of heaven.
