The hotel is splendid and a real historic landmark. The service, however, is worsening every time I visit. It almost looks like the higher the tier you get in the loyalty program, the lower the benefits. For $500 per night you’ll get fewer amenities than in a small non prestigious hotel of the same superchain anywhere else in the world. It used to be far better! Don’t expect a gold floor like in other Fairmont. The staff is willing to help but then often falls short of doing anything when you have complains. To note also that I was given the keys to the room that was already occupied. The staff quickly remedied to that and gave me an upgrade but (1) I had the inconvenience of entering the room of someone half naked and (2) it’s an obvious privacy / security and theft issue.

Received a “complimentary upgrade” to the 21st floor. It is now Sunday night with club music blaring and no one in our family able to sleep due to a wedding on the 24th floor that goes until 11PM on a Sunday. I feel like I am just outside of a club in Vegas. Don’t stay here!! Don’t give a BS upgrade that is actually a downgrade!

The Fairmont is a world know brand that brings expectations of excellence. In regards to this hotel leave your expectations at home. For instance the fitness Center is open only on Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 4 pm. Further the hotels famed bar, The Tonga Room , is closed sunday, monday and tuesdays! As other reviews noted the add ons are ridiculous. To access the wifi there is a charge of $12!!! Even a two star hotel will offer complimentary wifi. However if you are prepared to give away your privacy and join the fairmont club that fee is waived. What’s not waived is the over $100 fee to park at the hotel once you include the various taxes. As others noted the hotel rooms are in need of renovation. At the prices they are charging I would look elsewhere

Overall we had a disappointing stay here. We’ve stayed in other Fairmounts and the quality of amenities here and value for money as disappointing. Centrally located which was a positive and the staff at check on were fine but our room was teeny and very basic. The temperature of our shower was also like warm and upon complaining and they looked at it they said it was the max it could go. Wouldn’t return but still loved SF

My recent stay at the Fairmont San Francisco was truly memorable. The room was spacious, beautifully furnished, and offered an absolutely stunning view of Alcatraz and the bay. Waking up to the sight of the sun rising over the water, with the island in the distance, was an experience I won’t forget. The room itself felt luxurious yet comfortable, with plenty of space to relax. The bed was plush, and the marble bathroom added an extra touch of elegance. It was clear that attention had been paid to every detail, from the quality of the linens to the thoughtful amenities. The hotel’s location on Nob Hill made it easy to explore the city, but honestly, it was hard to leave the room with a view like that. If you’re considering staying at the Fairmont, I’d definitely recommend asking for a room in the Tower Building with a bay view—it’s worth it.
