It’s nice but service is subpar

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I’ve stayed at all the high end hotels in SF … Four Seasons, St Regis, Ritz, etc and so when I heard about this relatively new hotel I was intrigued. Rooms looked nice and a newer hotel is always a nice treat. Stayed two nights while my wife and I were up in SF moving our daughter into law school. The property and room was nice as expected from a stylish newer hotel but that’s as far it goes in terms of it being a high end hotel. The service… could never reach house keeping to clean out room. The elevators were sometimes painfully slow. The valet took 30 minutes!!!! At $72 a night to park WTH. And it’s one thing if the front desk at least warned us so we could plan accordingly but nope. Valet acted like that was the norm. Never encountered that at the other higher end hotels. Was terrible late to an event as a result. All in all.. the facilities were nice and stylish but it’s far from a higher end experience. At the end of the day it’s about the service that sets apart a top end hotel and the Jay falls short.

Full service, luxury accommodations

The Jay, Autograph Collection is a lovely hotel in the center of the Financial District. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with modern furniture, plenty of lighting, and room to work and relax. The view from the 24th floor was spectacular providing scenes of the water and the mountains. I enjoyed the classic yet creative menu at the 3rd floor restaurant and lounge. The fitness center was top notch with several Peloton bikes, treadmills, and full complement of weights. I would highly recommend staying here on your next visit to San Francisco.

Disappointing 60th Birthday stay at The Jay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Booked The Jay for my 60th birthday and let the hotel know before our arrival. Requested high floor room if possible. Also requested feather pillows None of my requests were honored. We booked a studio suite with a skyline view. Got to the hotel, checked in. As we are Bonvoy Gold members I inquired about a free upgrade. She said there were none. I said ok and was excited to celebrate my birthday. She asked if today was my birthday, I said no it’s in a couple of days. Got to our room. We had a view of the top of a building and the street below. 14th floor (hotel has 24 floors) it was depressing really. I called the front desk and asked if they had a room with a better view. She said yes but it was a King room not a suite. She said it had a nice view. We took it. Much smaller room but nice view. Spent the next three days sightseeing, eating yummy food. The weather was amazing as was San Francisco. The staff at the Jay were very friendly. The overall experience was lackluster and disappointing as I really thought they would recognize my birthday in someway, anything would have been nice. But nothing. Why bother being a Bonvoy Gold member. It’s worthless. With all the hotel choices in San Francisco, I recommend you do not stay at The Jay. You can do much better.

Love the Jay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We are Bay Area residents and the Jay is our new go-to hotel in SF. It offers great Bay views and is in a great location if you like to walk. Walking options include a very flat walk along the Embarcadero (to Fisherman's Wharf, Ferry Building, even to Oracle Park. North Beach is at your feet and Union Square just an easy up hill in 10 min. The rooms are large and the staff is friendly. Lots of dining options also within walking distance as in a Safeway just around the corner.

Beautiful hotel, great location

I loved staying here. I loved the warm, modern comfort of the room, which offered a calm retreat from the bustling city and gave us wonderful views of the bay. I loved the feel of the hotel, intimate and beautifully designed, I loved the staff who was friendly and always helpful. And I loved the location: easy walking to the bay, the Ferry Building, and many, many restaurants. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will be back.
