I stayed for 2 nights on business in October. When I arrived I was surprised to learn that the workers were on strike. I no longer wanted to stay there but had no choice as I was in town for a work conference. Hotels warn you when you make reservations that construction will be underway during your stay. They should warn you when there’s a strike too. Fortunately, they gave me a room on the 25th floor and I was awake for work before I could hear the strikers. I heard from some guests who were not so lucky. The Westin really shouldn’t charge a resort fee when guests have to hear the constant drumming and bullhorns from the strikers. My biggest complaint during my stay was the disgusting bathroom. I don’t know if it was so dirty because of the strike or not. The shower obviously had NOT been cleaned after the last guest. When I turned on the water, I saw a contact lense wash away. I also noticed what looked like two spots of blood on the caulking where the tub meets the tile. I took a picture of it before taking a wet tissue to it, and it came right up, which proved to me that the tub had not been cleaned at all as the blood was very obvious and cleaned right up. In addition, the vent above the showerhead and the light fixtures above the mirror in the bathroom were caked in dust. That amount of dust would’ve taken months to collect, so I think it was pretty dirty even before the strike started. As a platinum member, I stay at a lot of Marriott properties so I was very surprised and disappointed that the hotel like the Westin was so dirty.

With the strike going on the customer service has fallen. I was told i was going to be upgraded to a one bedroom suite and it never happened even though they moved me to different rooms. Every time I went to complain at the front desk I was told something different every time. Being a platinum member I have never had any issues at a Westin before. Rooms were never even cleaned properly over the 3 night stay. Strike needs to end!

This hotel is simply the best. Staff is amazing. Great rooms, food, and location is spot on. Close to a lot of popular places in the city and restaurants. Would highly recommend staying here! Special thanks to Elaine Dai at the front desk for being so kind, helpful, and friendly. Truly a wonderful person. She recommended a few spots to eat in China Town and then even asked us, when we checked out, how was the food! As well as Jeff Aquino, the concierge. Really friendly and warm personality that makes you feel welcomed to the hotel and the city! Thank you Jeff for being so kind and nice to me and my family from Costa Rica!

Banging drums by workers striking & shouting thru loudspeakers from 6:30am to 10pm every day. We should have been informed of this prior to our stay. Woken at 6:30am every morning. Hotel room was very drab and nothing like the photos they show. Felt run down and old. I don’t mind old if it’s well maintained. I’m sorry i didn’t book elsewhere.

1. There is a strike ongoing - housekeeping and kitchen workers. No mention of this when we made our reservation or prior to check in. Workers protesting outside and banging drums. 2. None of the restaurants are open. This is not indicated on the website. We did not know prior to checking in. The restaurant in the lobby, that is usually Italian is serving "take out" meaning premade prepackaged sandwiches and salads. I was charged $22 for a turkey sandwich. Pre-made, stored in the refrigerator, roll was cold. 3. The room seemed clean, but the bathroom shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower was apparently not checked to see if they had run out. We had no body wash. After a long trip to San Francisco, this was another disappointment. The hotel should be more transparent about the issues with the staff, and the lack of restaurant options. No doubt this hotel will improve when they settle their worker issues. They are trying to keep the hotel running, but it is not guest friendly at this time.
