waiter at restaurant

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Orlando our waiter at the Mexican and Italian restaurant at the gr Solaris lighthouse was excellent best waiter we have had he anticipated our every need and want and made our trip more pleasant for it. Our vacation would have been okay but not any thing special. However, everything has been wonderful here at the lighthouse, it is an awesome resort with a great staff.

10⭐ For beauty and hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

The facility is beautiful and in a calmer part of San Jose del Cabo. It's also walking distance to some local boutiques and la comer shopping. Ownership changed from Barcelo to Solaris. I've noticed there are no more espresso machine stations at the buffet locations. The grounds and foliage is beautiful in our opinion and it has easy direct access to the beach 🏖️ where there are lounge chairs under palm trees. We enjoy the delicious food, especially the cooked to order stations at the buffet. Michael the head chef introduced himself at our table and was a pleasure to speak with. "Captain" David was very thoughtful and would even bring us food from the cook to order stations because he was excited for us to try his recommendations. For my wife and I, one of the outstanding features of the resort is the service. The staff is very kind, hospitable and attentive to your needs and wants. You never feel like you're bothering them or asking too much. As guests we also try to be kind and respectful to them just as we would like to be treated. The Golden rule goes a long way. By the end of the week, you get to know some of the staff by name and they go out of their way to greet you even if you're not in their serving section. Marco introduced us to a few refreshing drinks that we would not have otherwise known about. Carlos has a very gregarious personality and makes you feel at home. Edgar recommended that we attend the art walk that occurs every Thursday at the plaza downtown San Jose Del Cabo. Heidi went out of her way to brew us fresh coffee at the buffet even though they don't serve coffee in the afternoon. Just an example of how they collaborate and take personal interest in their guests. Thank you for your outstanding service and always making us feel welcomed.

Overall great trip…front desk service could be improved.

Check in was easy. The welcome pitch was ok. We were tired but he did a good job of explaining the resort, amenities and activities. Food was great…always lots of choice. A la cartes were ok. We liked the buffets better. The Sushi a la carte was very good but only open Fridays and Saturdays. Off season and with the new ownership the hotel was at 10% capacity. So it was very quiet. The staff were wonderful. Servers attentive and very friendly. Entertainment staff (Enrique & Sebastian) were fun. They did a great job getting people involved which was hard as there was no one at the hotel. Feedback here would to maybe include a movie night. 2 football nights, 2 show nights and a karaoke night. The rest was dj nights with the same music. One comment…no manager to speak to regarding a couple issues. Front desk staff was not accommodating later in our stay. Our transportation was not leaving until noon for the airport so we asked for a late checkout…we did not give details as we were stopped with “it’ll be an extra cost.” No questions were asked of us…just shut down. It would have been an hour and with the low occupancy…you would think it would not be a problem. Then on checkout no offer to store out bags…so sat in the lobby for an hour. Nothing is open there so again frustrating. Other than the last two experiences with the front desk…and the fact there was no manager to speak with to give feedback…it was a great trip. Maybe asking questions and expand on client service at the front desk for future customers.

Beware. If you dont do the presentation, you get black balled. Francisco was our "welcome" check in guy. Really a sales pusher. He got us reservations for the Sushi restaurant in the lighthouse. When we told him we wouldn't do the presentation, he told us 20 minutes later that the restaurant was closed that day. .no reservations available. The resort is nice....but everything about it is shady. I would never come back here.
