Fantastic place. Beautiful grounds, filled with sculptures. More pools than I could count. Beautiful rooms. And amazing service. Thank you Luis at the pool. Thank you Enrique in the bar. Thank you Norma at the spa. We'd recommend this place in a heartbeat. One tiny nit - the white wine they promote is good but wildly overpriced. And I'm from NYC. I know Manhattan prices. Otherwise - spectacular. The spa is great too.

Very snobbish and snooty, we were walking and taking pictures of the beautiful setting, we decided to come have a dinner at the rooftop restaurant cafe Luna, went to ask to make a reservation , unlike the rest of Mexico, the guy and the girl at the reception were both snooty and told us while we were there and NOT staying there we needed to go online, very unpleasant, we decided not to go obviously. They had no clues… never judge people on the fact the are casual …..

My expectation at this price point is high. Overall, the resort is very nice. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is first-class. Louis and team at the pool provided wonderful service. The rooms were spacious. A little underwhelming, but not a deal breaker. I will say the surprise was how poor the food was. We had tremendous meals when we stepped out of the resort, but in the resort, the breakfast was poor, the dinner on the Rooftop was awful quality and lunch wasn’t anything of note. Overall, I would consider staying again and simply go off site for meals, but wouldn’t put this in the same league of luxury resorts that I’ve stayed at in the past.

Sadly this beautiful property does not help erase the very poor service from the staff. I was really disappointed and would not return. Not many places I have visited at this price point treats guests this poor. They are very annoyed and non attentive. This has been my experience at the pool and the rooftop restaurant.

I would have given the hotel 5* rating if it had not been for the drawbacks. First thought, the good points. The bedrooms are spacious and clean. We had a ground floor room near the pool and lots of seating areas nearby. The grounds are amazing and well tendered. I do not know how many gardeners are employed, but those we saw, worked hard. It is worth walking around the gardens. The pool (several, plus a jacuzzi) is great, but there are not enough spaces for the occupancy of the hotel. A nice touch is the free sunscreen on trolley near the pool. The Luna (rooftop) restaurant must be visited. The view at sunset is amazing. The food was good although the service was a little slow. There was a mix up on our table which was sorted (eventually). Now to the drawbacks. There was a problem with the lock to our bedroom such that we needed four replacement keys during out three day stay. Eventually it was decided that we had a faulty lock, and it was repaired at 11.30pm on our last evening! The plug mechanism in the sink wasn’t working. It was repaired with gaffa tape. Whilst it worked from then, it was not the sort of repair I would have expected from such an hotel. The service in the 1826, both at breakfast and lunch is incredibly slow. I would suggest there is a buffet breakfast which would allow patrons to have a swifter breakfast. Whilst our breakfast was included in the price, we decided to eat elsewhere on the final day. On our last day, we decided to eat at 1826 (mistake) and, at 2pm told reception that we had vacated our room at asked for our luggage to be collected. Our driver duly arrived at 3pm for our long drive back to Mexico City. Our luggage had not been collected and staff were despatched to collect them resulting in our delay to our departure. The lack of management on site is, in my opinion, the problem, and prevents this hotel from getting the start rating it deserves.
