We paid for the rooftop colonial to have a view of the promised 'stunning views' of the town. Upon arrival we were told it was not available but that they had upgraded up to a much better room. The whole point was to have a rooftop. Instead we got a bigger room with a view to a brick path and a tree. Not at all what we paid for. When I immediately called to ask for what happened with our reservation, we were told we could have one rooftop that night but next morning we would have to move. After hours traveling we said never mind. Hotel people are friendly. Its beautiful. Gardens are gorgeous. We went to eat at the Luna and our waiter spent most of the time talking and ignored us even though there were maybe 10 other people at the restaurant. so we didn't enjoy our time at restaurant either. I would say its a good place to stay but DON'T let them change what you paid for. It is very expensive and expectations were not met at all. Location is good. I wrote to the hotel what happened I have yet to hear from them.

Considering that this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel , we were not impressed by it. We did not get the room that we wanted . They did move us on the last day of our trip to the room we had wanted and paid for. The roof top Luna restaurant was very good and fantastic service. Would I stay here again , I think not. San Miguel was a treat and should not be missed. I heard a 4 seasons is building soon, we will give that a try next trip

My husband and I stayed three nights at La Valise and two nights at the Rosewood. La Valise was a far superior accommodation in every area, part of the Small Luxury Hotel Collection. I connected with the staff at the Rosewood prior to our arrival, sharing we would be transferring from another hotel, arranging a brunch reservation etc. I was told arriving at 11am to the Rosewood would work for the hotel. We were shocked to arrive and then be told our room would not be ready until 3-4pm. We would have stayed at the other hotel longer, planned the day differently etc. what was even more shocking was to be told our of the “67” rooms, that every single one of them were either occupied or dirty. During our stay we saw roughly three other couples at breakfast and passed three other couples on the grounds. We decided to go get brunch somewhere else and arrived back 1.5 hours later to still be told the room was not available. Finally, the manager said the room would be ready in 10 minutes after minutes before stating it would be multiple more hours. It was very clear they purposefully do not allow you in available rooms, even with an early check in. I was expecting the room to be spotless given I was also told it takes 2 hours to clean a room. The floor was filthy, the carpet was not vacuumed. The bed is comfortable but the room is very worn. There were markings on the door in the bathroom from toothpaste and water being splashed and not cleaned. This should not be an Amex highlighted fine resort. The service is awful, the staff were some of the most unaccommodating in all of our travels to Mexico. With breakfast included…they charge for water at breakfast. There is a charge to use the gym and the tennis courts. The ride to the airport in the Tesla was about $300 with a fully cracked windshield. This hotel screams cheap and tacky at every turn. The scallop dish at the rooftop bar was very good. The waitstaff at the rooftop were actually very kind, unlike the reception staff. The tuna dish was awful. The breakfast was good. Brunch is not included with Amex even though the hours and space overlap breakfast. We didn’t see a single person eating at their dinner restaurant. With room service and other amenities available late in the evening, I called at 10pm to ask for more water. Not one line at this five star resort was picked up after trying to ten minutes. I had to walk downstairs in an empty and dark hotel to reception and when I got close, I called and heard the phone ring which the two staff members ignored. I’ll leave it at this.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff and lovely city! Walking into the Rosewood is like stepping back in time. Every space is beautiful both indoors and outdoors. The pool is gorgeous—we enjoyed the cabanas. The breakfast was delicious—one of the best I have had. The view from Luna rooftop is spectacular. Spacious and comfortable rooms. It is the small touches that make this hotel special. Loved every moment of our stay!!

Unbelievable service, beautiful rooms, thoughtful amenities and one of the best breakfast menus ever. Rooftop bar not to be missed. Staff remember everything and make sure you feel constantly welcome and at home. A true luxury experience.
