About the Hotel

The land of Tierra Atacama is part of the Ayllú de Yaye. Tierra Atacama Hotel and Spa is built on the site of the old cattle corral, where the drovers who brought cattle from Argentina to the Port of Antofagasta stopped to feed and rest their animals after the tough crossing of the Andes. They restocked on forage and water before continuing their journey. The architects of Tierra Atacama decided to incorporate the ancient adobe walls into the entrance of the hotel, preserving them as a monument to the history of the area. Tierra Hotels has an adventure spa philosophy. We believe our guests want to experience the outdoors actively and adventurously and then be welcomed back to the hotel with a variety of relaxing options ranging from a simple nap to one of our professional spa services.

Reviews for Tierra Atacama Hotel and Spa

Perfect place in the Atacalma

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

Amazing hotel, food and excursions. Guide Gaspar really made our visit. All staff were amazing. I believe this hotel is about to undergo renovation so should be even more incredible when it reopens. The views out to the volcano were amazing.

Wonderful stay at Tierra Atacama

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

We stayed at Tierra Atacama as a mixed group - my partner and I, my 78 year old mother and my 14 and 11 year old children. Without exception every member of staff went above and beyond, from making fabulous mocktails for my 14 year old, finding a blanket for my 11 year old when he wasn't feeling well to taxing forgotten laundry to my mother to a hotel in Calama. The guides were all fabulous, explained things to my children in age appropriate ways and had them both transfixed on every single excursion. My son said that staying at Tierra Atacama was the best thing to ever happen to him! The pool is also wonderful, the views are astonishing. I gather the hotel will be closing for refurbishment soon, i very much hope all the staff are retained and not much is changed. It is the perfect mix of luxury and informality and we absolutely loved it.

Got what we paid for which was top class (pre refurb)

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

I was sceptical that we were going to get value from this all inclusive San Pedro de Atacama luxury base. I was wrong. The level of service, quality of food and drink, quality of the excursions was top class. We had a lovely standard room (may not be available in 2025) and Paula the manager could not have done a better job of ensuring the whole team delivered an excellent experience.

Another Poor review -sorry

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 months ago

This hotel is very old and simply should be closed for demolition or total refurbishment. Plumping (all aspects) is shockingly poor. Food is good considering location but the overall experience is poor as the service staff are either poorly trained or simply do not care. There are some exceptions; Antonia our guide for 3/4 days was excellent and Aly (excuse spelling) and one other young woman whose name I did not note (Chilean/ Canadian) were excellent and without them this trip would have been a disaster. When Paula (Manager) is on duty the attentiveness of all staff increases but when she is on leave the ship simply simply starts to wallow. After changing our room (due to poor plumping) our second room only had one chair on the terrace and it took almost 10 hours for a second chair to be delivered. I could go on but will end by simply stating - even with a refurbishment we will take some convincing to return to this hotel whereas Tierra Patagonia is breathtakingly beautiful, service superb and staff are well drilled.. Difficult to comprehend how a group, charging these prices, can deliver such different experiences

Excellent

Excellent in every respect and we have no hesitation in recommending. Staff, location, excursions, accommodation and general ambiance could not be faulted. All of the staff were very friendly (particularly Ale) and worked well under the excellent management of Paula and her team.
