Reviews for Royal Hotel Sanremo

Elegant luxury

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 16 hours ago

I stayed here with my family slightly late in the season. The hotel and staff are excellent all round. A classic hotel in every sense. The bar is expensive as mentioned, so expect to run up a bill. But you will do so in luxury ! A fantastic memory created.

Avoid the scam

We never write bad reviews, as we think of the employees and the families depending on their work but in this case we feel obliged. We booked a sea view room (425€/night, there are two other room categories below this one). Yes, we could see the sea... beyond the roofs of Sanremo, as we got a room on the side of the building (room 509). But this is not the problem. My friend has back problems (he was operated twice) so we choose carefully the hotels where we stay. When he checked the bed , as he usually does, we were shocked when we discovered that the mattress rests.. on an old wooden panel! (see picture, it spekas for itself) In a 5*L hotel? Really? When we went to the reception we were told that "all beds in the hotel are like this" and the solution was to add a topper. Royal Sanremo is a member of "Leading Hotels of the World" and we have stayed in other hotels of this group so we thought it was a kind of guarantee... But this hotel is not worth being part of LHW at all. Avoid

Gorgeous Luxury on the Italian Riviera

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We just spent an amazing 5 days at the RHSR and our kids are still talking about it. The oceanfront rooms have incredible sea views that are worth the upgrade. The hotel is truly a classic - beautiful and elegant the way true ***** hotels used to be. The staff was courteous and professional, always ready with a smile. The location can't be beat - steps from the bustling little town of SanRemo and right on the beach. The ONLY criticism is the lack of guaranteed beach access -- which is not made clear before booking. Offering only two chairs (and having to get to the front desk by 9AM before they all are taken) is a bit ridiculous after paying very premium prices for rooms - management, please do better! Otherwise the hotel is absolutely a winner and the place to stay on the Italian riviera. Highly recommend!!

disappointed and excited to leave

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We drove 5 hours to come to Royal Hotel Sanremo and we were so excited since we are celebrating our anniversary, the bathtub in room 410 doesn't have a shower, only a hand held wand that is by your knees that you can pick up and hold with your hand above your head, when my husband asked the woman at the front desk if there were any rooms that had a shower the woman was very rude and said in a very unkind way that "that will cost more" and "your room has a classic style" as if we can't afford to our upgrade room and as if we haven't stayed in many hotels in Italy before because we come to Italy for two months every summer (our hotels always have normal showers). It would have been fine if she was nice but she made us feel very bad like something is wrong with us. The only reason it is a big deal is because my shoulders are bad and my husband has to help me hold the wand above my head. Another woman who was kind gave my husband some options of different rooms that had a shower so we may upgrade our room. The rooms also have a thin door that is attached to our neighbors room and all we hear is a baby crying and screaming all night next door. We can hear them talk, breathe, cough, and hear other things... I have been told from an employee that every room has this issue. I also want to mention that the breakfast food was very mediocre and my omelette tasted like I was back home in the United States (not in a good way). We are just overall disappointed and excited to leave and head back to the Italian alps.

The bedroom pillows are HARD & 2 beds put together to make a queen bed. DRINKS overpriced is to say the least. This place feels like 1986 decor, it was a 5 star back than & now 2024 at best 3 star. DONT GO HERE...way overpriced & a complete waste of our time....
