Casa Palopo is a wonderful boutique hotel nestled in the hills of Lake Tititlan. We stayed in the rooms above the hotel and they were well furnished, clean, super comfy beds, spacious and decorated beautifully. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. I am gluten free and they accommodated my needs easily. It was very quiet when we were there (January) and had the infinity pool and hot tub to ourselves for the most part. I can’t speak to the other rooms at the main hotel because I didn’t see any of them. The views from the main lobby and cocktail deck were stunning. As were the views from our rooms above the hotel (where there was also a full kitchen and living room). The rooms had a painting kit and a meditation pack that we could use (very nice touch). There is a second restaurant below the hotel that is the place to watch the sunset. Food there was good too. One night we had a private shaman ceremony at the water’s edge at sunset and it was spectacular. We hiked the volcano one day (to 10,000 ft elevation) which was beautiful once we got up to the top. I will caution you though- it is a VERY strenuous hike (and we are fit). 3-4 hours UP and 2-3 hours down. You will need good shoes, water and a guide. We had a beautiful day (no clouds) for it. But don’t think it’s a trail hike. It’s definitely not easy. This is not a hotel for anyone needing a wheelchair or with any sort of handicap. There are a LOT of stairs on the property and 190 to be exact to our room up top. But it was beautiful and we had a really nice stay there. I’d highly recommend it if you are going to this region in Guatemala.

This place was like a dream, with the beautifully landscaped grounds set back from the road it was a serene oasis in Lake Atitlan. I stayed in the newer Villa that is up above the hotel with the gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the three volcanos. The room and bathroom were massive, styled and decorated very chic with a terrace that ran the entire length of the room with floor to ceiling glass doors so you can fall asleep and wake up to the incredible views of the volcanos. The real star of the property was the absolutely incredible infinity pool. It is high up above the hotel with the villa that only had three suites in it so it feels very secluded and semi-private, plus it has such commanding views of the volcanoes and lake by being so high up as if you are on a cliff overlooking it. There is also a jacuzzi you can transition to as it gets colder so you can watch the sun set behind the volcano from it with a glass of wine. Absolute perfection! The service was amazing from all the servers who were so friendly, warm and welcoming they always made sure everything was taken care of at all times. The food was so fresh and filled with delicious flavors I ended up eating more meals than I planned too just because of how good everything was. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing luxurious experience in Lake Atitlan, just make sure to book one of the rooms in the new villa vs the main hotel.

Casa Palopó overlooking Lake Atitlán was a wonderful escape from the outside world. This boutique hotel has all of the amenities of a large property. The General Manager, Pablo Ybarra, spent time with us sharing his ideas on places to visit around the lake along with local restaurants. The staff were very attentive and the Chef du Cuisine provided us with very creative dishes. When we return to Guatemala we will definitely be returning to Casa Palopó.

We were staying at the adjacent Xocovillas and walked up to Casa Palopó for dinner. We had tried the night prior but were told we needed reservations. We made reservations for the following night. The walkthrough up from the road is very steep, but the restaurant is beautiful. The food was lovely and ambiance was great. Could not have asked for a better Thanksgiving dinner

Poor value for money. Staff were average. Service was poor and mediocre. We had a Junior Suite. Nothing sweet about it. It was just a normal motel room. The hotel is located on a steep slope with many many steps. Good views of lake. The menu was mediocre and very expensive, and a number of dishes were served cold. Continental breakfast of cold toast and nothing else was included. For the price a cooked breakfast would be great. Everything was about gouging money from the customer. There was a sewerage smell constantly outside our room. Do your self a favour and save many dollars and stay at the Villa Santa Caterina in the village. Great food and huge pool. Pool at hotel was small and temperature varied Basically this hotel is exceptionally disappointing and represents very poor value for money.

Palopo is the singular most enjoyable hotel I have ever stayed in through Luxury Link or for that matter-anywhere in the world! The views of the magnificent Lake Atitlan framed by the volcanoes in the background is an eye-opening experience that is unmatched anywhere. The management and staff of the Casa Palopo are stealth-like in their first-rate service and guest relations and go above and beyond for their clients. Just to walk the grounds, swim the pools, to view the artwork and furnishings of the rooms throughout the premises is a sensory adventure. Our four days at Casa Palopo was an "extraordinary travel experience of the highest quality in accommodations, service and overall comfort." If you are looking for world-finest class accommodations, natural beauty, superb hospitality - Casa Palopo is the place for you.
