Reviews for Eldorado Hotel & Spa

Not worth it!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

WAY over priced for how dated it is. Missing drawer pull, ripped chairs, scratched and dated furniture. Decor looks like it’s from the 70s. Women at front desk has a major attitude. Pool and hot tub too overcrowded. Was guaranteed our room ready by 4:00. 4:15 still nothing. Miss Attitude at desk didn’t even apologize. Will not be back.

Great stay at the Elderado

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We had a great trip because our stay at the Elderado was so pleasant. The hotel met or exportations, or room exceeded them. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, walking distance to great restaurants and the Plaza. The staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful. They made us feel like honored guests, which we appreciate. The valet JJ and Vernon were especially great. We never had to wait, even when they were busy. They were very prompt about getting us access to our vehicle and were great about local recommendations. Next time we visit Santa Fe, we will definitely stay at the Elderado.

Great Hotel !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The swimming pool was wonderful and there was a bar right next to the pool. There is a restaurant on the premises that serves breakfast and dinner. We had dinner once and breakfast twice and the food was excellent!

Great location, amazing staff, will stay again.

Stayed weekend of 8/9/24. Excellent location, excellent pool area, staff were so friendly. Great restaurant off main lobby. PARKING TIP: You don't have to stop at the main entrance to unload and get stuck behind 3 other cars. If you park there to unload, the VALET DOES NOT MEET YOU AT THAT SPOT. Drive 10' past the main entrance and hang a right and head down for the underground parking and follow signs for valet. THAT is where the valet meets you and is a MUCH better place to unpack and take the elevator to the lobby for check in (El Dorado Staff: That note about parking should be on the main website, please) The night of 8/9 we had torrential downpour in Santa Fe and came back to a small puddle by the corner of the room. The roof is a flat roof and probably not designed for that much rain; it was leaking from the ceiling. A LOT of people on our floor had the same issue and when we called to move rooms and get maintenance there with a bucket, they did so in no time flat. Had the bellman come meet us at the door and took us to our new room. Everyone was super professional and the staff (while chaos was going on as new people checking in while also moving people into new rooms) handled it quite well under the circumstances. We were in the back left corner of the hotel and it was super quiet and slept well. Only complaint about the room is the bathroom vent fan. Most hotels use a huge fan system on the roof that pulls humidity from all the rooms in the hotel, the El Dorado fans either were not working or is set very very low. We had high humidity in the room all day long. Most towels and our swimwear were damp hours after leaving them in there (easy fix, set your towels and swim stuff by the window and the dry air does its thing). Back in the very end of the hotel, the walk isn't that bad from the elevators for the layout of the hotel and AMAZINGLY the elevators in this hotel are super rapid. They have 3 and don't think we ever waited more than 20 seconds for an elevator to show up (super rare in a lot of hotels). The pool area was SO cool and has a semi-infinite edge main pool and two hot tubs. In the morning its empty, but around 4pm gets kind of crowded. You can maybe fit 30 people there with enough chairs and cabanas. We had to ask an older couple if we could camp in the back of a cabana on the couch as there was no room and it was no problem. The bar and small cafe is around the corner of the pool and makes awesome drinks. Only ate at the Agave restaurant once for breakfast and it was SO good. Had the huevos rancheros and the enchilada sauce they use for under the scrambled eggs reminded me of my Nana. The beans were insanely good and the coffee was top notch and I'm a super coffee snob. My wife had the blue corn pancakes and with the syrup and fruit on it was really special and good in a different way. One of our rules on vacation is to try something we've never had before for food and it was really good. I did see the other reviews about bad experiences and luckily (even with the water coming in) didn't have anything negative to say about the property or staff (who were really good -- special props to Jay, the hotel director, saw him chatting with two women who were upset about something and he handled it like a pro) No notes :) Will be staying here again in the future.

Terrible pool food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The pool was nice but so small. The hot tubs were relaxing. The pool food though, was so awful. Worse than hospital cafeteria food. The pool deck nachos were chips with pump cheese and chicken chunks. That’s all, no salsa or anything. The burger was gray and cold. The salad had a nice dressing and fresh lettuce but also had weird ham chunks. For one of the “nicest” hotels in Santa Fe, you guys must step up your food game. Periodt.
