Reviews for Oceana Beach Club Hotel

Great Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Stayed here over Christmas and enjoyed it immensely. From start to finish staff was incredible. We had an early morning flight in and they were able to get us checked in as soon as we arrived. Which was very much unexpected and greatly appreciated. As a diamond member, they upgraded us to a huge suite with a kitchen even. Again. Not expected but truly appreciated. Alert staff were friendly and always quick on the draw. Housekeeping did a great job of keeping the room clean. Everyone in the restaurant was always friendly and accommodating. And I tell ya, Lucian makes one heck of an old fashioned!! Location was nice but there wasn’t a lot nearby so it was usually a long walk or car ride to get to restaurants, the pier, etc. the beach looks closer than it actually is but it’s not too bad a walk to get there. All in all a great stay and we hope to visit again!!

A Magical Stay in Santa Monica

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This was our second stay at Oceana, first time was back in 2022, and this remains my favorite hotel worldwide. This time, we were upgraded to the kitchen suite (diamond honors status), which I liked a lot, although less than the lanai suite we had last time. The full size fridge was great though! We also liked the added privacy of being back in the corner. The room is very large and the bathroom was nice. I was also happy with the new bath products they were using, great quality and a nice scent. The staff left a lovely gift of macarons and a note welcoming us back to Oceana, which was a lovely touch. I am being very particular here, but I will note that the rug and carpet in our room had some stains that were noticeable (we were in room 216 for management), nothing that left us feeling that the room was unclean, but it was noticeable for sure. The food on property remains top-notch, but expect to pay a high premium. We had dinner one night, got bread service, two mains, and two cocktails, it was $200. Breakfast every morning was just shy of $100. So, expect expensive but delicious food on property. They also continue to charge an "employee health insurance" fee. While I am absolutely supportive of the hotel providing health insurance for their associates, I believe that this fee should simply be included in the price of the food as there is no way to avoid paying this fee. Plus, when a side of toast is already $8, what's another $.26. Service within Sandpiper was also very nice each morning and at dinner. By the third morning the waiter offered us "our table near the window" which was a nice touch. The location also remains fabulous, Santa Monica is adorable and a wonderful place to stay in the LA area. A few other notes. The hotel is no longer providing house car service, this is something that the resort fee pays for. I mentioned it to the front desk, they apologized and said that they've been trying to change it on the Hilton side of things. I also could not find any tea/coffee in the lobby or Sandpiper each morning (another benefit being covered by the resort fee). I didn't make a big deal of either since we were exempted from the fee since we stayed on points. I also found the pool lounge chair cushions to be a bit more worn/dirty than they should be at a hotel of this caliber. They were still very comfy, but there was clearly some staining, I would recommend that those be replaced before the start of the high season. Danny at valet was great! He welcomed us to the property every chance he could and did a wonderful job with our bags and showing us around the property. Overall, this hotel still remains magical. There is something about the intimacy and uniqueness of the property. You really do feel like Oceana is your home. The bed is the most wonderful bed I've had the privilege of sleeping in and the rooms are very large and beautifully appointed. I look forward to the day when I'm able to return to this property, until then, I will continue to remember it fondly as my home on the Pacific Ocean.

Okay stay - hotel is more 4-star than 5-star

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We had an okay stay. The hotel is more 4-star than 5-star. As a Hilton Diamond, suites were available so too rooms with a sea view but we were only offered them as a paid upgrade, even though the hotel was far from capacity. Room was a good size, clean but had no view whatsoever. Breakfast was of a good quality but expect to pay $40-$50+ USD pp for a light breakfast. Toast was charged at $8 USD for "two pieces" which was actually one slice of bread cut into two! So yeah $8 USD for a slice of toast cut into two! Location is by the beach but a good 10 minute walk from the cafe/restaurant area. With rates of $800+ USD pn, I would not recommend staying here.

10 out of 10 recommend!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The hotel was great (especially thr bed and bathroom) and the staff was exceptional. Lenny did such a great job in giving us insights and advice as we tried to figure our our plan for seeing all of the things. He even highlighted a map for us. Breakfast was also good - I recommend trying thr pancakes with blueberries. It is easy to walk to so much and drive to even more. Run don't walk to stay at the Oceana if possible! You won't regret it.

Another Lovely Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Oceana is an interesting and unique boutique hotel in a great location across from the ocean and beautiful Palisades Park. The oversized standard rooms have features not found in other hotels. There is enough seating to have a party. (Literally in our room you could seat 16!) Great bed and luxury linens. Every member of the staff we came in to contact with was helpful and friendly and treated you like you were special. The restaurant could have been fancier especially for dinner but we understand that they are revamping it. If we had to be picky, the worst thing at the hotel was poor insulation between rooms and floors. A little too noisy. All and all a great place to stay.
