Oceana Beach Club Hotel

Location great, rooms spacious but definitely not a luxury hotel and incredibly overpriced (compared to other 4 and 5 star hotels we’ve stayed in not just in California but throughout the US and globally). Service was frosty - upon check in it was like the staff didn’t even want us there. We are Gold Hilton honours members but no mention of this. Room wasn’t ready (at 3.30pm, so fair enough earlier than the 4pm check in time), however what was then frustrating was; 1. the woman on front desk said she would text us shortly after to confirm about how long the room would take, so we knew whether to hang around in the hotel or to leave and enjoy Santa Monica. 40 minutes later no update so we had to go and chase. We were then told our room was ready, which leads me to… 2. upon arriving at our room, the door was wide open- we walked in and said hello? Turns out the housekeeper was still in there and didn’t even acknowledge us, just left the room! Very strange all round. The room itself (we had a Lanai Suite) was very spacious and bed comfortable, with two huge smart tvs and lovely modern bathroom. However, for a ‘luxury’ property it’s very tired and not well kept - lots of marks on walls and furniture, carpet fraying and coming up in places etc. Pool area is nice to chill and gym facilities good if small. Overall, definitely not good value for money at all. We booked this as a treat for our last night after a big 2 week tour of the West Coast and were left very disappointed. Would not recommend and will not be returning. We have also contacted Hilton corporate separately about our experience.

Overall we loved our time at the Oceana, but for a luxury property a few things fell a bit short that we wanted to address.... Upon arrival we were greeted by the extremely friendly staff. I must say, the staff are exceptional here and go above and beyond to make your experience a memorable one. Shout out to GM Sara. When we arrived in our room we were pleased with how large it was and we loved the decor. The bed was overall comfortable and plenty of storage space for our luggage and clothes. However, the walls were filled with markings and the carpets were beginning to fray. For the price I was expecting the rooms to be in a bit better condition. We also quickly realized there was an issue with our shower head, it was basically trickling out water. We notified the front desk and they thankfully resolved this issue fairly quickly. Last point about the rooms, I'd suggest requesting a top floor room as we could hear footsteps above us and the cracking of the floor. The pool area was very relaxing. You're able to order food and drinks, and while they are certainly expensive, it was worth it. The pool was never too crowded, and was consistently quiet. It gets good sun throughout the day as well. The fitness center is just off the pool area and while smaller is still a great gym. We did walk to the beach one day but I should warn you it's a bit of a hike across the bridge. The location is great, walking distance to downtown Santa Monica with all it has to offer, yet far enough away that it's extremely quiet and safe. Each day we ventured out to a different area of town, there is so much to do and see just steps away from this property. We will certainly return to the Oceana - and would recommend you visit as well.

Lenny, Daniel and Thomas were so great at welcoming meeting me and helping me throughout my stay with advice and bags and my car. They went above and beyond. My room was beautifully decorated the pool and restaurant service was exquisite in the food, although I had breakfast only, was served with Grace.

THANK YOU TO THE BOSS DUO RIGO AND LAURENT (say it with a French accent), TALL AND LOVELY ERICK, AND BILLY & JORGE IN THE RESTAURANT! We are locals who needed to get out of the heat And to come here for the occasional staycation. The team is extremely generous, very accommodating, present and ridiculously gorgeous. If you want great smiles and costly cappuccinos, the Oceana is heaven. Pool is groovy and even when there are kids around, it is pleasant and relaxing. The rooms are sexy and spacious and the ocean view is not necessarily the most desirable so don’t pass on a room in the back where the sounds of cars and motorcycles and ocean Boulevard don’t travel to. Hate packing up to leave but happy we live seven blocks away. Thank you to the entire team at the LXR. You do it better than most.

The Oceana is by far the best in every regard. From the moment we arrived until we left the staff was exceptional in taking care of us. We felt so appreciated and they were attentive to every detail regarding our stay. The property is exception, the rooms amazing, the pool area fantastic and the workout facility is amazing. We want to recognize Lenny for making our stay so awesome. This gentleman is by far top shelf in every aspect of customer service. Lenny made sure our entire stay was memorable. In addition, I have to also say the entire staff was amazing in allowing us to enjoy our stay. The take such good care of us and you feel as if you are home. The staff is so attentive to every need and want. The property is fantastic, a wonderful location, exceptional rooms and food. All I can say is the Oceana is one you do not want to miss.
