The Sandbourne and their employees were the best throughout our stay. We were evacuated from the Palisades Fire and they made the almost two month experience phenomenal! The restaurant staff and the food that was prepared was amazing. The front desk managers who assisted us were gracious and kind. The valet staff, Jorge, Ricardo, Sydney, Manuel, Emerson, Jesus and David were the best! We had many laughs and talks that always made us feel welcomed. They treated us like family and welcomed our pets as well! Highly recommend this hotel when staying in Santa Monica. Great Dog Park as well!

1. Upon arrival, the front desk asked if I wanted to check into my room right away—who wouldn't say yes? However, the room I was given turned out to be a basic one, even though I had booked a deluxe room with a balcony. When I raised the issue, the front desk casually explained that if we wanted the room we had actually booked, we’d have to come back after 4 PM. That’s completely unacceptable. First, they failed to mention that choosing to check in early would mean being downgraded. Second, it’s unclear why basic rooms were available while all deluxe rooms weren’t. It felt like a sneaky upselling tactic—forcing guests to accept a lower-tier room without any compensation. 2. There was no self-parking option, and the only choice was valet parking, which ended up costing $80 after tax—even though the front desk told me it would be $75. That’s outrageously expensive.

DONT BOOK THIS HOTEL there are so many better options. The only people that make you feel welcome here are the valet staff. The hotel sends you additions you can request like pillows and dog beds and doesn’t deliver on those things. The $500 a night starting price for rooms is a waste of money. They advertise that the windows open but they do not. The remodel of the hotel is a fail. It is out of place in LA. It might fit in South Beach but I’m sure the locals would reject it. The pool barely had an ocean view.

Combining business and impromptu spring break with college-aged student? No problem at the Sandbourne. Excellent leadership team (thanks Jessica and Cristel) and friendly staff. Convenient for the Santa Monica and SoCal vibe. Two thumbs up.
