Santa Monica Proper Hotel

Everything was perfect at the Santa Monica Proper from the decor to the amenities and staff. We had dinner and breakfast in the 2 restaurants and they were both amazing. The room and bathroom were spacious. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night but will definitely be back. This hotel had such a cool, relaxed vibe.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the last 3 years and have always had a great experience but this last one was simply amazing. My daughter, son in law and their 2 babies live in the Palisades and Sander went above and beyond helping them evacuate to The Proper. I will never stay anywhere else in Santa Monica.

Stayed here for one night and hope to come back. Nice location, cool vibe throughout, and impeccable service. Even had a dog bed and dishes for my service animal. As a platinum Bonvoy member, they upgraded my room and offered late checkout without my even asking. Don’t hesitate to stay here. Only complaint is the elevator. Only one was working, and even that was hit and miss. My claustrophobic wife spent 17 minutes stuck in the working elevator coming back from gym.

A wonderful stay at the Proper Hotel in Santa Monica. After being evacuated from my home during the Malibu fires, the hotel welcomed me and my dogs at 2am making the situation easy and comfortable. I was amazing with the changes in the staff during my stay. I met Bruno Vergeynst the general manager and complimented him on the improvements. I have stayed there several times and to be frank, never had a good experience. The staff had always been rather put out, didn't focus on customer service and a few times rude. Not now....under Brunos leadership everything was seamless. The wait staff was excellent, the food in the lobby restaurant was delightful (I ate all of my meals there for 5 days....with the dogs) The wait front desk staff was excellent. They accommodated me perfectly. The hotel was booked and they were able to move things around to help me with the pups. Again, amazing visit and thanks the team.

I loved this hotel so much. It's beautiful and comfortable, but the service was what really set it apart. We arrived very early the day of our reservation (like 8:30am) to drop off our luggage, and they were able to find us a room that we could check into, which was amazing since we had woken up at 4:30am to catch our flight and needed a nap before going about our day in LA. I also made a reservation for the "recovery suite" with a sauna, cold plunge, infrared panel, & many other restorative features, and they extended my reservation from 30 minutes to 60 minutes at no additional cost. I would definitely recommend springing for the full 60 if you're considering this because I used every minute. The gym here is the best hotel gym I've ever used -- Woodway treadmills, Peloton bikes, well-stocked weight rack (with multiple sets of the popular 10/15/20 free weights), a pilates reformer, etc. And it is really beautifully designed. The rooms are also lovely. We had four of us (2 adults, 2 teens) staying in one room, so it was a little tight but still very comfortable. The shower was luxurious, and the bathrooms came with Aesop products. They have free coffee in the morning in a lounge area that was very pleasant; my only minor quibble was that a couple of times there were people taking very loud FaceTime calls in there, which made it a little less zen. The rooftop pool (heated) and bar area were gorgeous, with plants everywhere. The location is very convenient, and getting Ubers/Waymos was fast. You can also easily walk to restaurants, shops, CVS, etc.
